There was a special on him on Christmas Day on ESPN.
Glad I recorded it as I was in/out of the room so missed some of it.
He was the voice of the NFL as far as I was concerned. Like the special said, if it was an important game, Madden was on the announcer team.

RIP Coach. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Best personality in the NFL. So many memorable moments as a commentator!

Never met him, but really appreciated him as a coach and in his post-coaching TV activities.

Pretty sure my cousin met him at some point when she worked for the Raiders.

Pretty sure on of my "racing" contacts met him-- he was producer of EA's Madden game from 1990 onward.

Likely when I speak to my cousin and racing friend, they will both remember Mr. Madden as a great person and ambassador for NFL football.

He made the Turducken popular.

I just heard of his passing. Football hasn't been the same since he retired. RIP coach.

he and Madden were best friends since 3rd grade

Madden was an icon, and just a great guy according to everyone who knew him. Ironically, he was talked about a bunch by the TV football guys this past weekend.
