1989 Toyota Land Cruiser Turbo Diesel

A friend of mine came in to this. He's not a car guy at all but he's not stupid when it comes to cars. He's a guy that just basically buys and sell stuff for a living. Every once in a while, he has cars. This thing has only roughly 700 miles on it. I saw it yesterday and it is easy to believe considering the condition that it's in. It's in as new condition. I told him he needs to put it on BaT. He wasn't even aware of what that was. Anyways, I've seen some Land Cruiser interest here so I thought I'd share.

Yeah, that's worth a couple of bucks. The RHD makes it a lot less desirable in the USA but there is a healthy market for that. I definitely suggest BaT, as well as Paul's suggestion.

The thing has some crazy cabin air filter and even an ice maker. I'll get some better pictures later. He's having a birthday party for his kid today, I'll be there.

The other thing is to just be polite and have thick skin, sellers who get defensive suffer in lost bids. This thing could go to the moon on that site, if handled correctly.

There are a few Japanese imported 4wd vans running around my neighborhood. Out here, the right hand drive cars do not seem to be a large issue. People in the know and are looking for such vehicle are still plenty. I was at the Japanese Classic Car show in Long beach couple years ago, there's were an abundance of right hand drive imports.

I know of an Australia diesel fj40 in Torrance CA. The owner is from Australia but he's looking for 50k for a car that looks like it just cross the outback and back 10 times with the big dents and scratches to proof it. Interior is a mess. That car is worth a pretty penny if to the right buyer. Contact the Land Cruiser Museum in Utah and see if they will give him a few bucks for it. |

Pretty sure that it's an FJ62, not a 60...but then again, it could be a completely different number because it's a diesel. All US market LCs were FJ62s and this one has the automatic transmission and quad headlights of a 62.

We'll see what it brings! Probably would have done better on BaT but maybe not. |

Being turbo I think that makes it an HJ61 or 62.

BTW, there was one locally (FJ62) with 13k on the clock that I saw back in August for $92k. It sold pretty quickly.
