The Lone Ranger's car

Clayton Moor's '59 'Vette. Now owned by his daughter...looking at her now, I can only think that she was a true 20th century fox!

Cool. However the guy showing it is a little over the top.
In 1957, my buddy and I got to pose with his horse at Old Tucson where they were filming. Oh yeah, Tonto's horse was there too. A few years before the car showed up.

Yep! Silver and Scout in the background. No wonder you kept that pic. True americana, right there..

Charles Phoenix? LOL! Behold the glory. He usually covers old luxobarges...I laugh through them...

The '58 has been my dream car (with a white door scoop) but that'd do!

Great pic! You should have it scanned and printed twice. Frame them and give one to your buddy.

Which one is you?

Charles is the King (or Queen) of Kitsch. He's a good guy and travels doing slide shows of Mid Century Pop Culture, Americana, vintage Disneyland, Hawaiiana, etc.

I last went to one of his "shows" (pre Covid) at a theater on the Westside featuring a slide show of 50's trailer life and family vacations followed by a showing of Lucy and Desi's "The Long, Long, Long Trailer".

His catch phrase (said in a very drawn out gay voice) "I knooowww...."

'56-60 are my favorites (visually). I'd have a hard time picking between the two and four headlight versions. I might lean more towards the '56-'57 cars, but only just slightly.

Many years ago (why do more and more of my stories start that way), there was a Lone Ranger Restaurant in Reseda.
I remember going there for the grand opening and Clayton Moore was there.
All dressed up in the LR regalia. No horse and I don't remember a corvette.
But it obviously made an impression on me.

That four speed powerglide probably helps the value quite a bit. It’s a really rare option.

The powerglide was a 2 speed. The Hydramatic was 4 speed.

Yes, I know. I was commenting on the claim he made in the video, which nobody seemed to catch.

Sorry, but I couldn't stomach watching the video, so I missed that.

I had the powerglide tranny in my 66 Chevelle. Strong transmission..but terrible for 0-60. The gap between low and high was huge.
