Robot pets...really

Apparently these are not entirely new and really making the rounds. They use AI to learn the owners moods and behavior. IMHO we're domed.

obvious, really...

Do they ...
Not snarl at you when you kick them out of your spot on the couch?
Not beg to go outside, only to turn around and demand to be let back in?
Not eat out of the garbage, or counter surf?
Not randomly puke up on the carpet something they shouldn't have ate?
Not bring dead things back to the door?
I could go on.

I'm in.

I think Honda has one.

Well, there are people that shouldn't have live pets, the way they treat them.

As Woody Allen asked many years ago, do they leave little batteries around the yard?

Combine the cute Japanese version with a Boston Dynamics robodog. With AI, what could go wrong?

When "they" can made me a robot dog that has a simple remote control:

Push a button and it transitions into a puppy in play mode, push a another button and it transforms into snuggle buddy lap dog. Push the walk button and it is ready for a walk to accompany me on a walk with no pulling on the leash or barking at other dogs. Push another button and it goes into guard dog mode. Push another button and it is in vacation mode, and I can leave for a two week vacation and it is fine and it experiences not separation issues, yet is waiting to greet me at the door with a happy tail upon my return.

No vet bills, just the occasional software update and parts replacement so I don't have to experience the tragically short lifespan of a dog again. Yea, I will buy one of those.

I suspect it will be a while before they are available so I will stick to biological dogs.

I'm waiting on a love bot, but by that time I'll be too old to even remember why she's just sitting there on my couch.

Robots don’t have souls.

As soon as the AI robots figure out that at they need is free puntang to subdue us, we're done.
