As a commentator...

Back during the Arab Spring I sent an Email to CR where that night he posed a question to a Egyptian journalist in Cairo that came straight form my email to him. I postulated that the Arab Spring was going to undercut Al Qaeda's influence as now it posed a choice of having democracy instead of Secular Dictatorship or Religious Fundamentalism. The Egyptian journalist thought a moment and affirmed the postulation. That comment even made it to a Samatha Power aka as Obama's 2nd UN Ambassadors news conference..where she made that statement.

Time didn't make that observation seem to pan out at all, as the dictatorships survive and fundamentalism became more virulent with ISIS in particular. Thus I considered it to be a failed observation. However the worm turns...last year a journalist who interviewed Bin Laden before 911 wrote a book on Bin Laden where he had access to papers captured in the Bin Laden raid. Bin Laden it seems was concerned at the end about how to keep Al Qaeda relevant in the face of the Arab Spring.

Gonna listen to my mother and just not say anything at all .... :D
