Waterpik with flosser?
Thinking of getting one like this....
They claim that it will take the place of flossing. I wonder if that is true. Anyone have one with this feature? And do you feel it does a good job at flossing? <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/lbqtB-9GpqE" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> https://www.amazon.com/Waterpik-Sonic-Fusion-Professional-Flossing-Toothbrush/dp/B08WSTTCMG/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=TVPLQMF0HOLZ&th=1 |
My wife is a dental assistant and front office person at her dental office. We just transitioned from flossing daily to using a cordless water pik. The one she got has a built in tank. It does a phenomenal job. I'll know how good at my next cleaning.
|
I have one and use the pik feature daily. It greatly reduces the need to floss. Perhaps if I set the pressure level to max I would not need to floss at all. I use 6 out of 10.
|
I have one and no it doesn’t replace flossing for me. I still floss at least once daily because my mouth is crowded. Nothing but floss will remove popcorn or beef rib meat. TMI.

F.B.I. here.
floss, brush, irrigate. it's what works for me. |

I like the idea of having it floss spray while brushing. A gal I know, said she went from an electric brush and flossing to this Waterpik and said she could tell the diff immediately. I'll prob get the thing. |
admit it. when you're done flossing and brushing. is it not a total shock when a chunk of shortrib comes flying out with the wash? "Where was that hiding?!!"
|
Plus, I have a bridge over two molars...and it's very hard to get floss under it..even with a threader.
I tried just a plain waterpik a couple years ago and didn't like the water flying all over. With the brushing and piking at the same time...it should cut down on the mess. |

i go face down in the sink, water pik in my mouth, lips closed but loose so water can come dribbling out. it is very controlled :) |
^^^
I remember the spray flying off my front teeth mostly. With the brushing working at the same time...it should cut down on that. |
I got one of those waterpik sonic-fusion 2.0's for Christmas and it is awesome.
|
^^^ Good to hear!
|
I have a quarterly cleaning in March, so it will be interesting to hear what the folks at the dentist have to say. It forces me to use the waterpik daily since I do it at the same time in the morning and at night.
|
I water pik and then floss and still get some occasional food bits flossing, so I would continue with the flossing.
|
I brush with this, battery powered:

I have one spot where I commonly get beef jerky stuck, so I do use one of the floss things that looks like a toothbrush with a replaceable floss head. Have not needed it since I started with the fancy new fangled sonic dealy.
|
Every tooth in my mouth is cubic zirconia and my dentist said I have to use a Waterpik to maintain my gums. My Waterpik is 5 years old now andworks great. For my teeth, much better than flossing and the jet gets everywhere.

Timely thread from trusted Pelicans.
My water-pic from the ninety's (Mr.Molars) died this week. I went keyboard-shopping and visited about a million sites for a close replacement - no-luck. Tons of different options. What is the preferred MODEL NUMBER of the plug-in, pic+flosser, that is the consensus of this elite group ? Thanks in advanced. Bill K |
This is the one I have and like it.

^^^ Yep...same one I just ordered. It's to be delivered on Sunday.

Thanks for the feedback. I already have an cordless elec brush (Braun) and the suggested model would be redundant ?
Amazon had what I was looking for - a direct replacement for my old one. (not to mention for about $140 less ) Sorry, and thanks. https://www.amazon.com/Waterpik-Flosser-Portable-Electric-Travel/dp/B0831HZCTK/ref=asc_df_B0831HZCTK/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=416694126876&hvpos=&hvnetw= g&hvrand=2797309880874453789&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt =&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9003688&hvt argid=pla-870189295579&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=94693358155&h vpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=416694126876&hvpos=&hvnetw=g &hvrand=2797309880874453789&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmd l=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9003688&hvtargid=pla-870189295579 Bill K |
^^^ My reason for getting the Sonic 2.0 is that it does both at the same time. (see vid in OP)
I also have Braun Oral B , which will be replaced by this. |
Just noticed that they also sell 'whitening tablets' to use in the Waterpik.
Great idea...if they work. https://www.amazon.com/Waterpik-Whitening-Flosser-Tablets-compatible/dp/B079NHM5HX/ref=s_4/134-3442431-2630706?pd_rd_w=IGvTO&pf_rd_p=4956a3bb-4805-44c6-95f8-e1df925cf0c6&pf_rd_r=0T45N80BBM9ESHJW12GW&pd_rd_r= 4787973e-7e90-4657-be6d-bf307b8812ba&pd_rd_wg=I36ce&pd_rd_i=B079NHM5HX&psc =1 |
Periodontist here. I have several patients who use this with good results.
My advice would be to use one for 6 months, then ask your hygienist (or dentist) what sort of effectiveness they are seeing in your oral health (gingival inflammation, plaque removal, etc). There is no one size fits all oral hygiene regimen, different people need different things to stay healthy. In general I am a fan of the WaterPik, especially if you have implants and/or bridges. I find WP's Sonic TB to not be that great. I personally use a Sonicare TB and a separate WP. |
Just arrived....will thaw it out when I get home. I love Prime delivery...great pics.

After a couple days of using it...I have to say that I like it a lot.
Flossing and brushing at the same time is my favorite and I turn the pressure up to 5..so far. |

I am using mine at the 5 setting as well.....
|
Yes...they can make a mess! I'm hoping I get better at it with time.
