I really like "Fearless" too, but a good live version is difficult to find!

(And Pompeii is SUCH a good live "concert")

Meddle is my fav. Floyd album.

They used to show Pompeii at our local midnight movie house. So good.

Unfortunately for me, I was but wee lad (or negative digits) when some of the groups listed here toured in their prime, so I'm going to have go with a performance (that I attended and that happens to be online) by a band probably most of you have never heard of. But it was a killer show.

I used to see Boingo every Halloween at the Universal Amphitheater in the 90s, even saw their last show. Farewell is a great live album.

I may be mistaken or having an acid flashback but I think HughR bought his old house or it was once owned from Danny Elfman.

I own that cd. Pro Tip! Don't leave a battery in the spine.

Editorial. I wish they would have or could have made the lamp flash on and off like a heartbeat:
bu-Bump. bu-Bump. bu-Bump.......

instead of just:
on-off-on-off-on-off........

About 1979 as a kid that needed to have his wisdom teeth pulled.
My Dentist was a former Ole Miss running back legend from the Archie Manning era that went on to play for the Rams. Yeah, that's the fella holding the pliers.
Left side upper and lowers came out with a resounding "CRUNCH". He told me be back same day same time next week for the ones in the right side of my head.

I told him I would be more "prepared".

Week later I show up with a cassette tape in my Walkman.
It's cued to Magic Bus, The Who Live at Leeds.
The really loud part.
Headset in place, cranked it up to 11 as he manned the pliers.
"CaaaaRRRUNNNNNCHHHHH"

I told him my plan didn't exactly go as I had figured. :D

Best live performance I ever attended (and there were many greats): About 1997 Warren Zevon as a solo artist in a small venue.

He might've gone easier on you if you would have left the '49ers ballcap in the car!

We went to Sunfest in West Palm Beach Florida to See Flogging Molly with some friends.

It was bucketing down rain that evening, we were sure the concert was going to be cancelled, it was not, so we went.

We were drenched, the band played hard, my crazy ass friend John got a mosh pit going, I had not been in one since I was in my 30's at a MXPX concert.

I got dragged in, it was relatively mild as far as pits go, then I found Brutus from Popeye, he freaking leveled me. Then turned around and gave me a hand back up and hugged me. I found love in the pit.

It was not the best live show I had been to but it was one of the top most fun shows.

Brutus with Dennis who came out into the audience after the show, hung out and chatted with us.

The Beach Boys 1974 in Daytona Beach. Honk opened. Went with the crew. Epic night!

herr_oberst 01-07-2022 07:15 PM

David Lindley and El Rayo-X, back in the 80's were the band I would never miss. Unfortunately, David has evolved and is now playing music on a higher plane, where clay-brains like myself don't belong.

Before Covid, my favorite live music was stuff like Dave Alvin, (ex of the Blasters), Rev. Horton Heat, Big Sandy and the Fly-Rite Boys, and my new favorites, The Delta Bombers.
Small venues, great sight-lines, and an appreciative audience. What's not to like?

Trivia question without Google, David Gilmours guitar strap, the famous "X" pattern, where did he git it?

The Alvin brothers should have been a lot more famous...

Craziest was Rage at a small club in Salt Lake City in 1992. Club DV8 I think it was called. They opened for House Of Pain. After Rage was done and H.O.P. came on the crowd was so let down they booed H.O.P off the stage. Rage was something else. https://youtu.be/8de2W3rtZsA

Most epic was Nirvana at the Cow Palace on 12/31/1991 Opening that night was Pearl Jam followed by Red Hot Chili Peppers. https://youtu.be/OFn1PvlSXu8

That's ironic as one of my Dentist closest friends was a restauranteur that played kick returner for the 49'ers in the same era. Their businesses were a stones throw apart for decades, and both were inducted into the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame.

One of the shows I most remember is The Dead Weather playing at the Glass House in Pomona in the summer. It was hot inside and Jack White was battling a cold, but he still soldered on. The energy was incredible and Alison Mosshart was mesmerizing.

Rush Snakes and Arrows tour at Irvine Meadows was spectacular.

Indeed. I'll go see Dave whenever he's around, just to get a dose of Outta Control.
Their "reunion" tour a few years back was amazing.

glad to see this is still going.

Had a ride to Woodstock, but was working so didn't go. My friend got stuck on the NY ThruWay and never made. One concert I wish I saw, The Last Waltz

Snuck behind my parents back and went to my very first rock concert @ 15 yrs old in 1968, the Doors & Jefferson Airplane @ Anaheim Convention center.
Lots of firsts in life back then in oh so many ways.
