Tools! Quiet compressors, quick change hole saws
 

I got a Makita 2 Gal quiet compressor that's rated at 60dB when running. Holy moly! This thing is awesome, so quiet. It's probably not big enough for a lot of stuff, but for what I wanted, needed and how quickly I needed it, I was able to grab it at Home Depot.

Ideally, I'd have gotten the California Air Tools 10Gal vertical, but it would have been more than twice as expensive, and I'd have had to order it and wait. I was in a hurry.

Regardless, any compressor that's only 60dB, wow! I think my old one was probably 90-100dB which REALLY sucked no matter what you were doing with it.

With a bunch of stuff that we're doing, I've needed a bunch of hole saws. I got the Freud Diablo. They are quick change, basically the same mechanism that's used for air compressor tools/lines. So very nice, buy a mandrel and whatever hole saws you need.

I also got one of the oscillating multi-tools. I think it's interesting and very cool that this is what was used to remove casts, and now they seem to be everywhere. Holy hell, this thing is LOUD! Other than that, it's great. I can see it being useful for all sorts of things. I've gotten a ton of use out of it already.

I’d like to have a quiet air compressor, but I’m going to wait until mine dies. The oscillating saw, has become one of my favorite tools at work.

Oscillating saw is the bomb!
 

My Bosch saw has become my go to saw for a lot of my demo work that need to be done with a bit more precision. Blades are expensive though. The Dewalt blades that should fit keep falling out (not machined/fabricated correctly), so back to Bosch blades. A cordless version would be ideal!

My brother-in-law has one of these and it is really nice. It's gas powered so, no need for electricity to operate it. I need one of those quiet compressors. I have a Craftsman 20 gal from years and years ago. Works wonderful for all my needs but is so damn loud I hardly use the thing.

I got this quiet compressor from Lowes a couple of years ago. Ended up selling my Craftsman 20 gal compressor as I quit using it.

You guys owe it to yourselves to make the jump. The difference between these new quiet compressors and the old ones is profound. This new one makes a low frequency hum.

Buy a new compressor and then sell the old one to help defray the cost if that's an issue. You'll be glad that you did.

I have the Harbor Freight version of the 2 gal quiet compressor and it is "as advertised". Works great and is super-quiet. Inexpensive, too. They're website says $189 now, but I think I got it for $139.

that's a heck of a deal at $139. At $189, not so much.
