Powder coat removal?

Anyone ever strip powder coat from a part? Have a few parts I would like to remove the coating. Not sure what product or how to go about removing the coating. Speed is not nearly important as removing the part with out damaging the part.

He may have wondered about the w-9. No info directly in the link, but it's nasty stuff with hydrofluoric acid and methylene chloride.

So, to the OP — heat.

Aircraft stripper used to work equally well. Becoming difficult to find now, and probably weaker.

Are you going to powder coat it a different color or natural? When I had parts powder coated, they had a 55 gallon drum they would hang parts in to strip.

What about media blasting.

Semi gloss black with the color removed from the fin ends and letters. I am thinking cerokote?

Shaun cerocoated my fan and housing, and I could not be happier. He also removed the center of the fan, replated it along with some other parts, and riveted it back on. He even fixed a crack he found in the fan housing. Compared to powder coating or painting, I recommend cerokote in the strongest possible terms. For several reasons. My fan is just slightly lighter-colored than the housing. Both are a sort of tinted silver. Grayish silver.

Shawn does great work. That looks great.

I was ever a fan of powder coating myself. Everything I ever saw looked thick.

Don, it should be a federal crime to powder coat anything Porsche. PC is best left for sprucing up yard sale lawn furniture.

Make sure you get the catalyzed heat cured Cerakote, it's much more durable and looks better than the high temperature air cure.

Jim, your fan is my custom silver and housing custom grey. I really need to come up with actual names for these two colors someday.

Well, I couldn't be happier, Shaun. My car turns heads anyway, with a re-done interior, shiny Mocha paint and Euromeister 17 x 7 and 9 wheels, but the funnest part of showing it to people is popping the hood and watching their face.
