Lost my mom tonight

Just before Christmas my mom fell out of bed and broke her hip. She received a partial hip replacement and was discharged in time to be home for Christmas. 2 January she had chest pains so ambulance came and she was evaluated and found she had a heart attack, and we discovered that she had also suffered a stroke in the past. last Thursday she was scheduled for a triple bypass and the doctor was sure she was strong enough for it. She had complications and eventually became septic. she passed today at 830 PM. I was named as the medical consent person, I know my mom did not want life support so I told the doctor she was DNR. I am so devastated right now. I was there and my older sister was with her when she passed. I am sorry guys, I just need to let something out.

Damn! It's a hellofa blow. Perhaps something a friend told me at my mom's funeral will help:

"It'll always hurt Paul. But in time, it will hurt less."

So sorry to hear of this. Lost my father some 4 years ago, and there's not a day that goes by that I do not think of him. We got along great. But in time, I think if him less and less and I feel so bad for doing it. It took a couple years for my mom to finally let him go. She's better now. You hang in there.

Sorry for your loss Crusty. I can sympathise, I went through very similar circumstances with my mother three years ago this coming February 6th.

It's not easy especially when you aren't prepared.

Thank you for respecting your Mom's wishes at the end. You probably hated having that conversation with her, but she raised you to be true to her.
It is so hard to say, "Goodbye", but you will find yourself doing just that from time to time over years and maybe decades as the sorrow leaves you.

Best
Les

So sorry to hear this, but it sounds eerily familiar with my FIL around Thanksgiving. It's been a rough time for families everywhere.
