it's no secret, i kayak.

on my older kayak, i used this tape to protect the keel from abrasions. hard beach landings, AC parking lots when i tip the kayak into my truck, etc. everything wants to erode the plastic. i tried this tape and it was awesome. i had some wear from my kayak learning curve, but the tape arrested the damage. despite that, i installed a commercial product that was difficult to glue into place. i used marine grade Goop!. if i ever have to take it off, i will have nightmares.

my new kayak. i think i am sticking to the tape. it is $5 per roll, and it will last a long time. it last 4 months before i either have to put on another layer, or peel it off and reapply. it leaves ZERO residue. i just changed the tape to a fresh covering, and the kayak underneath is pristine. people on the Google use gorilla tape, but that leaves a residue. no thanks. it looks janky, yea. but whatever. i'm old enough to have learned to give two-F's to what somebody else thinks.

i just happened to have the tape in my garage. it really works. i think i bought it to insulate outdoor water pipes.

While reading, I only saw the top pic and thought, "wow, that's a crazy perfect tape job" but I guess that's the commercial product. The tape is the bottom shot. Yeah, screw em. We value performance over aesthetics, and it sounds like this tape checks the performance boxes on several layers. It's not pretty, but who care's when you're in the water fishing. I assume no one can see it then anyway.

On top of everything else, if the name of the commercial product is the "BerleyPro Compass Bumper Bro," then that's a huge ding in my book. I don't think I've ever mutter bro or brah in any serious capacity, or if so, maybe for a very short period at some point when I was a kid.

Oh sure, ignore what people think.

Well of course he is. People keep buying it hoping it will seal leaky ducts, and it fails miserably at the one job it's advertised to do.
You'd think by now we'd know better, but I keep seeing it on the hardware store shelf.
Insanity is repeating the same mistake over and over again, hoping for a different result.

(Vash, I had a neighbor who worked in an industry where they used that tape. I think he assembled modular homes or mobile homes. He'd bring home the stubs of rolls with about 40 or 50 feet still left on them. Fantastic stuff, and good for so many things)

I'm familiar with the Orbit brand - very popular consumer brand for irrigation and lighting.

Most of the pros use Rainbird, Hunter, Toro, K-Rain, etc.

But I have some low voltage lights made by Orbit that have PVC bodies...so they'll never rust!

Fun fact - first landscape lighting fixtures I ever bought and installed here at my place were cheapo plastic Malibu's. And I still have some still working after 26 years!

Isn't that stuff known as "Malibu lighting?"

I always wrapped the nose of my white water kayak with duct tape. My Duffeks weren't always spot on.

Here is an older photo showing one - at the bottom of the pic right in the middle. This was taken about 3 years after I installed them.

I've since replaced most of the original lighting but still have the old fixtures in a box plus one still in place next to the garage. They are plastic and hold up very well to the corrosion here.

I also replace the filament wedge bulb with a modern LED one.

Malibu lights actually works for more then 3 months? You must have ones form the 1956s.
