Last minute game tickets
Another question for the Pelican brain trusts. I would like to treat my adult sons to the Bucs vs Rams game this Sunday. The ticket prices are insane and I really can't believe people pay them (I know I won't) There are thousands of tics available on the various web sites. I know in years past I could always pick up tics in front of the stadium. I realize all tics are electronic now. Can you wait until the last minute to buy them (like 2pm for a 3pm game? What happens to all these on line tickets? Do they just go unsold?
Thanks Dave |
Stubhub will delete a listing before the event, I don't know if the time changes based on the popularity. We sat once flip flopping on buying some Astro's tickets, and when we decided to jump 5 minutes before the game, they were all closed out. Up to that point, there was lots of price fluctuation. I've also sold tickets on Stubhub, and you have the choice of making the selling price "variable", it drops as you get closer to the event to try to lure in people sitting and watching prices. If no sales before the cutoff time, then the seller keeps the (now worthless) ticket.
I cannot say what other sites do. |
Ticketmaster's pricing changes based on demand. So if lots of people are buying at one time the price goes up. That said, I think they have a minimum price that it will never drop below. Those tix will just go unsold if not sold by event time.
If you want to go to the game, I think you're just going to need to suck it up and pay. |
There is a website called Gametime that seems to have much better pricing than the other big ones. 300 Level for $150 a ticket, good seats from $350+.
I'm jealous, I've paid more for bad Bears games, much less a playoff game. |
