Laser retinal repair surgery

I had my retina reattached with laser surgery but I couldn’t see what was going on at the time.
Question: is it possible that a tool was used to stabilize or manipulate the position of my eye or eye socket during this procedure?

No damage was done and everything work out.
I’m just curious because it certainly seemed like something was being inserted into my eye socket.
My wife has said “I doubt that”.

The experience was terrible because of it.
