Bill Clinton made them famous.

So do you just pop a couple here and there, or do you pop them back to back to back?

If you pop a mint (any mint) here and there, that's not too bad, but if you pop them back to back to back (which I've done at times in the past) then at some point, my mouth would get to where I felt it was sour.

Atomic Fireballs for the office and classrooms here (duh, Los Alamos). Not that I'd turn the Altoids down...

They were mighty when I was a kid and now they're just tasty. Maybe it was 47y of wear/tear/whisky or maybe they're weak these days?

I think they are weaker now than they were, similar to lemon heads that used to pucker your head right into your neck.

atomic fireballs? color me intrigued!!

i eat about 6 a day. not a real problem. i can quit anytime i want. i was just bumming because i ratttle the tin, and it sounded empty.

the Paul Newman ones are really tasty. but i think they have sugar in them.

i cant help but crunch them down to dust in my mouth.

Cliff, you are strange in an entertaining sort of way.

Rusty Heap 01-25-2022 04:40 PM

grins, BE CAREFULL scuba diving with an atomic fireball in your mouth under water, while switching it back to back cheek to cheek, it tends to block your regulator and airway! just sayin, may have happened to a friend.

Atomic Fireballs were the bomb back when.

See what I did there.

I know a guy in business. We refer to him as Altoid Dude. Always popping Altoids. He has four different jumbo tins on his desk, peppermint, cinnamon, spearmint, artic. Probably eats a couple of tins a day. Always pleasant and will generously offer you an Altoid.

We are curiously convinced he is hiding something, like BO or bad breath.

Ah, OK. 6 isn't a big deal.

I used to bartend and had access to peppermints. I'd occasionally start having some, probably mostly out of boredom, and that would snowball to the point where I was popping them constantly. It was too much sugar, so I'd eventually quit.

Atomic fireballs are just candy.

Years ago I had a neighbor who was a dentist and alcoholic. He popped those in his mouth each time he saw a patient. I'm also sure his staff knew why he did that.

I wonder if the current version of wintergreen lifesavers still emit a spark when you crunch them in your teeth?

flatbutt 01-26-2022 05:07 PM

I once had a gf who liked for me to crunch a few mints before we got ... well you know. She seemed to enjoy the special sensation that the mint provided.

No...I didn't have stink mouth.

My wife was making cinnamon rock candy, and decided to double the heat...She ended up burning her face, and hands from the fumes off of the warm slab of candy.
