Roses are Red, Violets are Blue

And I have Covid. Thought it was just the flu at first because I tested negative for two days, (home quick tests), but then last night got a positive. It's pretty much like a head cold, Monday was the only really bad day and now it's mostly sniffles. Some muscle aches and general feeling lousy. Also a dry cough.

I assume that it's Omicron since these mild symptoms in vaccinated people are being widely reported. I think that everyone is going to get it but could be wrong. Just wondering why it took so long(?)

My mom just emailed me that she has it now. She's been in the hospital for about seven weeks and they are pretty strict about screening visitors and wearing masks. She's fully vaxxed and boosted. Yet, here she is. Look at the bright side - now she will really have the immunity the vax was supposed to give her.

Yeah, I bought the Premium Package of vaccines, 3 doses of Moderna. I'd like to think that it protected me from the more dangerous variants, like Delta, but who knows?

That's a long time to be in the hospital, I hope that she is going to be OK. And one slight difference of opinion, I think that natural immunity plus being vaccinated is the best combo. If I make a good recovery, (which I hope and predict), that will make me plus one brother and one sister who have had it plus vaccinated. The two of them got vaccinated AFTER a serious bout with earlier strains, so that illustrates the difference in opinion on the vaccines. We believe strongly that they are safe and offer the best protection against serious illness.

Once again, my hopes for your mother's quick recovery.

I hope Momma Lee gets over it quickly and completely and feels better soon!

I don't think it works like that?

You can get the flu more than once. You can get the vaccination for the flu and still get the flu. I believe Covid is similar. And there are plenty of people that have had covid more than once. I know someone that's had it twice now, once last summer and again between Christmas an New Years.

I agree. I think that both vaccines offer the best protection out there but they are not absolute. They tend to prevent hospitalization and death with Covid but again, not 100%. Just the best bet available.

Thanks, Norm. So far, it's relatively mild.

I think you'll be fine, Denis- I certainly hope so. Being boosted should make this a cake walk. I have a feeling almost all of us will get exposed to Omicron. Lots of chat about vitamins and such. Zinc and D? Not sure what else.

My mom just called. She just started and has a mild cough. I think she will be in for a rough ride, but I hope not. She's been in the hospital for an infection from her fourth knee replacement. They keep having to redo it due to recurring infection and Medicare won't cover anything if she goes home and has a nurse come to administer her IV once a day. So she has to stay in that infection factory, can't even imagine what Medicare is paying for that. And now she's on the isolation floor for 10 days and my dad, who's getting depression over all this, can no longer come to visit her.

Add me to the list one day of sniffles but positive none the less despite vax and boost
The quarantine is worse then the symptoms

Sorry to hear about your mom Rick sending positive thoughts your way

Really sorry to hear this. I've gone through this with family members and close friends in the hospital who cannot have visitors, it truly sucks. It can also be multiplied by millions(?) of people who have been hospitalized with Covid over the last two years. Can't wait to be over this crap.

Hey Dan, glad you got through it quickly. How long before you tested negative?

Best wishes for Mrs. Lee and Denis. It is starting to look like the question is not whether I become infected but when.

Denis, get well soon.

Did you have any other symptoms? Loss of taste or smell, or shortness of breath, fever, dizziness?

I cannot wait until this is over. I don't think it will be for quite some time.

Get well buddy, sounds like you have the Omicron. We started back up on a show 1/3 and so many tested positive we are shut down until 1/24. That's when they figure it will have blown through LA. You're just one of the stragglers.

I heard a doctor today on the radio and he was asked about the vax being responsible for milder symptoms in those vaxxed and infected. He said there wasn't a significant study but in the over 1k cases he has treated it was definitely a factor.

One of the guys I work with had the earlier version about this time last year and had to be hospitalized for two weeks. He's not vaxxed, figured he had the antibodies and now he got Omicron last week. One week later and he still feels like crap, maybe he'll wise up.

My positive status lasted two weeks before I got a negative. I had full blown symptoms for about nine days, was on the mend for five before testing negative. It was no fun, but I've colds and flus that were worse. Whatever I had two yrs ago, after going to China and before anyone knew what was happening was 10x worse than any flu I had ever had. I don't know if I had antibodies from that first bout or what. But I took zero precautions, am often around a lot of people and it still took two more years for me to catch it (again). Not sure what did it or how long I might have been immune from the first bout.
