You need to glue a walnut shell to that board.

That's the last concern I have when those da** red squirrels run across my yard with a walnut in their mouth. (although the large ones are easier to hit)

I found a few of the nuts on top of the engine of my Fit.

Trophy Squirrel....

LOL! That's an ugly SOB!

I'd think that you'd appreciate them running off with the nuts. Weren't you just complaining not that long ago that you end up with too many nuts that end up piled in your yard making a mess? You should be inviting squirrels to come snag 'em, not running them off when they do.

But just out of reach, like torture from the beyond.

I would...if they took them off the property....but no, they want to store them in every little nook they can find.
Under my deck, on the car engine, in my storage shed....they are relentless...just like a rat. (which they are)

A 410 shotgun works best.

A .22 with birdshot is quieter if you have "neighbors". And it's probably cheaper too! Last time I was in looking at shotgun shells, .410 was salty. I saw a box of 20ga for $18 today

stevej37 02-09-2022 03:36 PM

^^^ Plus the 410 makes a lot of noise/smoke inside the house. :D

I have some cc 22ga....but they won't kill a ground squirrel unless 20ft away.

Do they maim them?

Well put the nuts closer to the window!

stevej37 02-09-2022 03:49 PM

^^^ CB
I usually have to wait for the smoke to clear.
If not dead...I use my boots.

You need to buy better shells! And maybe a .410 over under. Better yet, I wanted one of these something fierce but never bought one. It's a Marlin 410xlr SS Now they're just stupid expensive. But man is it cool looking? I look at that Marlin like Ralphie looked at a Red Ryder.

They know that only big noise and smoke comes from the window.:)

Change windows!

I'm a problem solver... it's what I do. ;)

stevej37 02-09-2022 04:11 PM

Do they make a silencer for a 410 shotgun?

Crowbob 02-09-2022 04:12 PM

Maiming is good enough for me.

Let them suckers limp home to tell their friends a lunatic with bad intent is about and it’s time to hightail it outta here!

stevej37 02-09-2022 04:14 PM

^^^
Sounds good to me...although I hate to get a bad reputation in the hood.

Or you can do like the groundhog hunters around here do. They hang the dead bodies on a fence to warn the others.

The polite term is "suppressor" (silencer sounds like you're up to no good) and Yeah I think you can find them for a .410.

stevej37 02-09-2022 04:41 PM

^^^ That might be the best for me. I see the neighbors watching everytime I use the 410.
They think the worst....but it's only squirrels. (sometimes a feral cat)

cabmandone 02-09-2022 04:47 PM

You should keep the cats. They tend to keep the squirrels away.

Crowbob 02-09-2022 04:50 PM

Problem with cats is they tend to starve and freeze to death.

stevej37 02-09-2022 04:53 PM

I have done that in the last few years.
The only problem I have with the cats is that in the summer they sit on the edge of my pond and swipe at the fish. The turtles just laugh at them.

My dad did that with feral hog heads. Put them on pikes around his garden. Seemed to work. Though my mom thought it was kind of macabre.

Do you suppose the hogs walked up and thought to themselves "holy sh.t! I could be next!" ?

GH85Carrera 02-10-2022 06:49 AM

One of my wife's cousins has some ranch land in Texas. He goes out to set traps for feral hogs, and kills any on sight. He usually just hooks them to his 4 wheeler ATV and drags them into the open so the buzzards will see it. They can strip it to bones in no time. The coyotes get the rest. He know is is a loosing battle and they breed like hogs, and make rabbits look like they have slow reproduction rates.

They are really destructive, so it is always open season on pigs.

cabmandone 02-10-2022 06:58 AM

Tell him if he'll pay my expenses I'll bring the night vision and we'll have some fun.

Fast Freddy 944 02-10-2022 04:41 PM

Is this for deer huntin'?
