Rinnai water heater and electrical question

Quick question on continuous water heaters and electrical.

Does the 110 power for a Rinnai water heater need to be on a disconnect/switch with its own breaker or can it be plugged into a GFI?

My Rinnais are gas units and the 110 is for the starter. They are connected to GFI

I guess it’s not completely unusual, but the electrician we are using is on the way out and I think he’s being lazy. I’ve always had a switch with a waterproof cover. Even an AC type disconnect would work better.

I can see the homeowner looking in the breaker box for a tripped breaker, when it’s the GFI receptacle that’s tripped and outside. That means he’s going to be calling me.

For my gas rinnai install They ran a line and installed a gfci outlet for my rinnai to plug into. Circuit in my house id shared with some lights in the furnace room. I think docs say it pull max of 165w.

This. Always. Easy to service if it needs to come off.
