Arrow 1979 Volvo 245DL stick shift wagon on eBay - Hatboro, Pennsylvania - 4 days left!

23 bids so far and sitting at $4,050.......

Seller description:

We recently picked up this very nice 1979 Volvo 245 DL VIN VC24545M1263242 from a local auction. This car was listed as a donation. After picking up the Volvo we have it a quick once over before listing it here in eBay. First of all the car runs really well. After dropping a few gallons of fresh gas, she started up without any issues. We took it around the block and determined the clutch was holding strong, it shifted easily through all four gears and, the overdrive works with the flip of the switch. The brakes are strong with no pulling or pulsing. The suspension is comfortable with no noises when hitting pot holes. The Volvo appears to have been well taken care of. It has new Pirelli tires. The shocks appear to be recently replaced with KYB. The entire car was repainted at some point and it was rather well done. All of the door jam and rockers were sprayed. I believe the original color was Appalachian Blue. There was rust repair done at the back of the car on both the driver and passenger side that we had to clean up a bit. The car does have some dents and dings and a few areas where rust is starting to pop. The floors and undercarriage is in great shape. The interior is in decent shape for a 43 year old car. The driver seat will need to be repaired or replaced. The sliders are not working and the seat back is shifted a little sideways. Most of the electronics are working as they should, other than the heater controls. The temp is stuck in the middle and the vents are not shifting between defros vent and floor. Radio is working along with the wipers and horn. The rear license plate light will need to be replaced, we had to temporarily afix them to the hatch. The car is listed as a project but it would not take much work to bring it back to its formal glory. We are listing the car for 10 days and no reserve, so the highest bidder wins.

This is the gem.

edit- corroded gem, but still a fun project if the price doesn't jump

The red Michigan R will go for big bucks. The 71 will be prized for it's age. This is the blue headed bastard step child in the middle. A plain jane wagon you could drive

edit- I didn't see interior pics. but what the heck. It's trashed from what I can see through the windshield shot, but who cares... .

That's the thing about Ebay, it's a horrible format to buy long distance. BaT really changed the game and raised the bar wrt photos, being able to ask questions, other people chiming in, etc... Mostly just the photo standards they have. On eBay, someone can sell a rusted-out schitbox with no good interior pics, no cold start or driving video...you are really on your own.

I've jumped on a plane several times to collect my Ebay "winnings," only to see that I'd been had and tell the seller to eat schit and die.

This looks like one of those cars. Without an in-person PPI, forget it.

EDIT: I read the listing. There is no reason to pursue this car, it's worth maybe $1k if it runs great.

After 3 volvos, i'm done

My last experience, with a family owned turbo wagon was a failed rf ball joint, a bad power steering hose, a failed power brake booster, and a bad O2 sensor, on a well cared for car, with about 120K miles. On advice from the alignment shop, i bought tie rod ends and front a arm bushings - i got rid of the car before doing that work, there was a hint of a wiring failure creeping up.

Prior low mileage cars , failed head gasket, turbo bearing, repeat rear suspension bushing failure.

I don't even consider volvos anymore.
