1978 Lincoln - Pre-OBD "Engine" light

Hoping one of you can push me in the right direction. 1978 Lincoln Continental. 6.6L (400cid)

Just replaced the radiator, water pump and several hoses and a heater hose pipe that sheared off (antifreeze related corrosion) the front end of the engine. It took some time as there are many brackets and four belts driven by the crank pulley that needed to be removed.

So I now have an "Engine" light on the dash. 1978 is pre-OBD. Would this car have a diagnostic code system that can flash the error if I jumper some ports together?

I sense it's the temp sensor (screws into water pump) electrical connection as that is really the only electrical gizmo I messed with.

I have a stack of Chilton manuals but I'm going to just ask in case there is someone that can help with direction. No need to solve. Just a nudge.
