whats up with heat in new(er) cars

we have new Hyundai at work, my suburban and my e46 don't blow heat on your feet.

I remember when I was a kid the heat blasting out of the floor vents.
now it seems like when the floor is selected it just blows the heat inside the dash.
I can feel heat in the upper area of the car but none on my feet.

im tired of my feet being cold and my body hot.
anyone else noticed this.

Are you not setting the controls correctly?

My '08 Boxster and my wife's '18 Outback will both blow windshield, dash or floorboards or a combination of multiple outputs.

The Hyundai, I might think (it's cheap, and they did away with that), but the Suburban seems likely to have it, and the e46 seems like it would have to be capable.

looks like there's a button on the left to blow into the floorboard.

What year? My Taco has the usual bottom heat.

I have that same heat control in my bmw

yes, floor heat only in the Hyundai
same with my suburban.
vent heat has a lot of air but floor heat has almost none.
the door change because the vent heat goes to very little air out.
same with the Hyundai, and this one is brand new.

Sounds like the HVAC system in some of your cars is not working properly.

You've got some diverters that aren't diverting. From my 08 Trex to my 2020 Highlander, every single one will blow hot air at my feet when selected. I did have a blend door actuator go bad in my Trex that caused the air to not be as warm as it should have been.

All cars should have hot air to the floor when needed- I've never seen otherwise. I think you've got either some unbelievable coincidence due to a mechanical problem, or maybe the car hasn't warmed up yet?
