New To Me Toy
The pandemic led me to work from home full time. So I got rid of the Cayenne. It was fun while it lasted.
Bought a 991.1 S PDK Coupe off a local guy, after searching for what I initially wanted, a 997.2S PDK Coupe. But everybody was asking for crazy money. This forum provides a wealth of information and varied opinions and experiences, which I truly appreciate. Thanks to all who contributed to the Affordable 997 thread, which aren't so affordable these days. For just a little bit more money, I jumped to a 991, which feels really huge compared to the G50... Thanks for offering to help check out cars. You can expect me to return the favor should you want to check out a car in the San Francisco Bay Area. And thanks for your advice on buying a car with a lien. I'm now waiting for the title to be sent to the seller. Finished cleaning the interior today, just simple vacuum, leather cleaner and conditioner, interior quick detailer, and glass cleaner. Needs intermediate service and a good exterior wash, clay, polish and wax. Missing the rear left floor mat. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1644985260.jpg |
Nice!
Looking forward to hearing your impressions of the 991. I was pretty set on the 997.2 so I did not drive anything newer when I was looking. |
Looks good. More pics?

Nice. After saying goodbye to my C4S the other day, I'll hopefully be able to find a nice 997.2 some day when I fully retire. We'll see. They may be way outside what I can afford by then. Enjoy it in good health.

The difference in size of the 997.2 and the SC/G body is quite a bit, and they 991/2 is even larger.

Washed, clayed, polished, glazed, waxed, and now running errands. Still some swirl marks on the roof, but it's a driver.

How’s the PDK?
I know everybody likes a manual, but driving my E46 M3 on the street/track with the SMG was actually fun. And of course you had the option to drive an automatic. |

I haven't taken it to a track so can't comment on that. It does inspire more confidence through corners (not the PDK) but more just the feel of the car on turn-in. Will try a bit more spirited driving tomorrow. |
Going 4/10ths, because 1) they're public roads, 2) I'm unfamiliar with the car, 3) I'm a wimp, and I know I wasn't going all that fast because the traction control light only turned on maybe a dozen or so times in my hour and a half of driving.
Steering is very light. Of course, it has power steering, but I have no comparison to a hydraulic steering 911 with power steering. It no longer feels like the engine is out back. In a slalom, tires break much faster, but that may just be the Nitto tires with 580 rating. Or it could be that the car is longer and has to turn more. I don't know. Next up is to try it at an autocross course. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1645374244.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1645374244.jpg https://goo.gl/maps/QNv2aUWfn1dCztJS7 |
Very nice!
