Anyone checked out the Oscar movies?

The most nominated "The Power of the dog" is on Netflix. I watched it today, it was good, but I had to check the reviews (plot summary) to see just what happened at the end, as it was a bit confusing.

Watchable

I don't generally search out the Oscar movies. I wouldn't mind having more time for movies and watching more though.

I'm glad you didn't ask me about the ending....I still haven't figured it all out.
Kirstens real husband plays her husband...I found that out after watching it.
I liked it...but Oscar worthy? I don't know.
Cumberbatch did a great job. (as always)

Good movie- tough to watch. I'd hate to think that was one of the best of the year.

Steve- the ending's pretty simple. The kid poisoned Phil with Anthrax.

^^^Yeah, I had that, but I had more questions about the whole last quarter of the movie.
I think I'm going to read the book. Amazon has it for download.

because Phil harassed his mother, and the poison came from the dead cow Pete found, knowing there was no more good hides/ and Phil was going to need some to finish the rope

I've got a bunch of "screeners" I haven't watched. I think the only one that caught my eye was "Licorice Pizza". The newer stuff I've watched seems rushed and disjointed, like they just wanted to get some content out there "post pandemic", reshoots and editing be damned.

I tend to watch a lot if Film Noir, they just don't make them like they used to.

We watched it Sunday night. I kept wondering, how the hell does he keep those white sneakers so white?

Kid reminded me of Pee Wee Herman.

My wife and I both watched it and thought it was one of the worst movies we’ve ever seen. No idea how it got an Oscar nod.

^^^ My theory is because of the name/subject of the movie....
Sort of like 'The Art of Driving in the Rain...dog lovers loved it.
Channing Tatum has a new one coming out...'Dog'....It will be a big hit.

I think Ricky Gervais scared everyone away after the Golden Globes.

I also didn’t like it, but I’m not at all surprised at how it got Oscar nods.
Would surprise me if it didn’t.

'Don't Look Up' is another movie nominated for best picture.

Slim pickings this round.
