Federal Tax Filing

This year I decided to use my local H&R Block for tax filing.

I had an appt for Wed afternoon (2 days ago)
Today, I was checking my bank account online for something else....My refund was posted to my account already!

Two days....not bad.

I bet the payment was made by H&R Block, not the government.

^^^ I don't think so...because I received this email on Wed evening...

Congrats, STEVEN — The IRS accepted your return!
Your 2021 federal taxes are complete.

The IRS issues most refunds within 21 days, which you've chosen to receive by direct deposit. If your return encounters any processing issues, you may experience longer refund processing times.

I have to write a 13k+ check this year. I will wait until the day it is due.

I'm happy to get a refund...but the refund is too big.
I don't need to have that much withheld and I'll lower it sometime soon. (try to get it near zero)

I don't ever want a refund. Why would anyone give the gov't. a free loan? But as a 1099 guy, my situation changes too much every year to forecast things very well. I usually owe the feds or the state and get a refund from one that covers what I owe the other.

Yea, god forbid you overpay by $2500 for an average of 6 months at 1% interest rates.
Gotta make sure you don't lose that $12 in interest! What a shrewd tycoon!

That whole $12 might buy a whole 6-pack of an IPA
I could give that up for a refund.

Now multiply that $2500 by millions of Americans that all use the IRS as their "savings plan" then tell me about that $12 again.

My calculator shows $7.26 for 6 months on $2500 at 1% One year gets you $13.50

Good luck getting 1% at any savings bank. Mine is .05% APY
