In the beginning there was MTBE which is way better than ethanol for reasons but more expensive. BP's measurement auditor in the 90's was furious when BP used ethanol but Marathon's lower tier station, Speedway, used better MTBE. Not that his voice matters but it made sense to me why he was not happy. BP sold out customer's engine performance to make money. I was BP's EPA RFG compliance auditor. It was a more volume based testing role than a technical role. I did learn some cool stuff though. I believe everything said about the corn lobbies. I believe that's probably how MTBE went away but don't know for sure. I just paid $12.99 per lb for a rib-eye at ALDI the other day, FWIW. WHy is beef so expensive? Can cattle eat switchgrass? |
