Luckily I saw the SNL skit riffing on the netflix show, otherwise I'd not have bothered to watch inventing anna on netflix.

Hmm. Watched 4 episodes all the way through, which is pretty good for me.

Still think the SNL skit summarizes most that is good about the netflix show. Except... maybe I learned something... I just figured out what people see in having a mega yacht.

My wife watched the whole thing. That actress’s voice still hurts my ears.

I'd read a few articles on her over the years. Crazy what she was able to accomplish. I'm not about to watch the movie.

Great show. Crazy true story. Acting by Julia Garner deserves an award, impressive talent.

i enjoyed it.

i liked the psychology of the con. like its very clear that the con is what is "real" to her. and the dream is to live in the con full time. unlike us normal people, who's real life is just normal people doing normal things.

it was pretty hit or miss though. the first couple episodes were junk, and the last one was bad, but there was some good stuff.

the writers are morons

like having psych records for an adult sent to a parent in germany as if hipaa laws dont exist? ok. great research team employed by the producer....yea, details like this annoy me ----did that really happen in real life? If so, sorry producer

i hate myself for watching the whole thing but thats what happens when your wife watches something while you sit on the couch next to her on your ipad reading pelican threads i guess. my bad

p.s. I gave it a shot because i love Ozark

Yeah I guess don't take entertainment advice from me then. I'm all ossified and critical so happy when something new can make me laugh out loud. The series was out of left field for me, maybe caught it in the right mood, or maybe I should start watching glee and sex in the city?

I thought inventing anna was a fun story. I actually lol'd a bunch. Scammers scamming. And the old timers in scriberia. Well done. I think at its heart it is probably a better story than the abscam (american hustle), just not implemented nearly as well, but the story is great and the presentation through the journalist was well done. Smart writing.

Thought a lot of the acting was pretty good. I've no idea what is true but thought the core story had good bones.

Ozark... got bored in season 2. I seemed to stop caring once Del (esai morales) succumbed to cerebral lead poisoning. I really liked his brand of malice.

RE Ozark, I HATE the 2 kids, especially the son, enough to give up on it but im glad I didnt...too many redeeming qualities about the show for me...at first, I really did dislike it.

There have been a a couple shows I just couldnt tolerate and left the room for a week. I have my limits

Fast forward to about 5 minutes in she explains the accent. I was impressed w/ all the accents she can do and how she put them together.

Between Ruth and Anna it's weird to hear how normal her regular speaking voice is.
