Paintless Dent Removal (5 year old strikes again)

good morning fellas......

a while back a few guys got a group together for dent removals on their cars..... i think 7-9 guys/cars got together and got a reduced rate from the PDR guy. i think it was a success.

I'm thinking of doing the same....... and hoping to get a few guys together to see if we can also get a PDR guy to reduce the $$ if we have a few guys together......

i live in the Brea/Fullerton area (La Habra) CA.

the back story is that my 5 year old son wasn't feeling well, mom went out for some errands, he missed her. she pulled into the driveway and parked... he ran outside to greet her and opened the driver door hard (he is heavy handed) right into the other car and DENTED the Escalade......couldn't get mad at him seeing how happy he was that mama came home..... told him it was all right kiddo.......

but he left a good size dent in the door........ sigh.

anyone up for this?

I can't help, but I've got grandsons that are about to be 3 and 6. Yep, little hulksters that do everything with all of their might.

What you need is a very good PDR guy. I suspect the good ones don’t need to work for a discount. If you’re going to be near Fremont, I could probably hook you up with one of the best in the country.

Steve, you can feel my pain then! hahaha.... its Ok. there is a solution.

Steve, your right... I'm sure they don't.

it isn't THAT important to have the best PDR guy in the country.....
just better than it is.... is good enough for me at the moment.
unfortunately my Escalade is taking a beating with a 7 year old and a 5 year old attached to the middle row seats.... as much as i try and REALLY take care of it......I feel like I'm battling the Borg.

You can find a good guy from a local high end dealership service advisor. Contact the guy directly and tell him you’ll be paying cash. You never know the skill level you’ll need because of what’s behind the dent and access. If you post a few pics, my friend might know if it’s repairable and what he would charge. Nothing better than no trace of the little monster’s handiwork!

gonna be a tough one to pull out, that will need door card removal to gently tap it out

I've done it myself with a 30 bucks kit off amazon
Not perfect, but got the worst of the dent out to the point where they didn't notice it when i returned the company car..

It's quite doable really

The 911 got bumped by a Honda motorbike and has two small dime sized dents. I'm guessing this sort of dent removal is suitable for this.

That is one of the best things about being a boy.

Sorry about your door, they can do amazing things these days with PDR so I expect you'll be OK for fairly short money.

Take pictures and put them in a file. In 11 years, pull out the file. Show the young-un all of his handiwork and why he gets to drive a beat to hell Mom car Caddy instead of a new sporty car.

That baby looks like it's down to primer. No hiding that one! A good PDR guy will get it flat but I'd think it's still gonna take some touchup paint unless my eyes deceive me.

I'm seeing two identical pictures. Looks like some paint transfer on the upper 6-7" parallel to the door edge- maybe polish off with wax?

The ding at the bottom could be over a brace, making it difficult or impossible to get to. I would think a PDR guy would drill a hole in the rear of the door below the latch, then put a rubber plug in. If it's just paint transfer on it, that won't be a problem.

Better close ups would be helpful.

The PDR guy I had at my house went in through the window to take out some pretty hefty door dings. I was amazed what he took out. I told my son to learn that trade. Naturally he won't listen.

I don't need a 5yo kid (grand or otherwise) to do this to my vehicles. I AM MARRIED and I depend on her to treat our vehicles like garbage or a garbage can. There isn't a parking space too small for her Land Rover...

I'll point you all to the thread where I posted the photo of the glue that had ran down a vertical surface of the dash and dried where she tried to mount some cell phone holder. Honestly, I'm just lucky she didn't use drywall screws I guess.

Edit: Should I have used green font even though the above is true?????

so the dent is NOT down to the primer..... i used some polish to clean it up.... now... its a very clean HUGE dent......

no one stepped up to get a group together for a PDR guy.... maybe i will look for a PDR guy for myself......

the escalade has 3-4 little dings to can get out too........

oh well.... thought it was a good idea.

After visiting the Most Beautiful Woman thread I swore this one's title was Pantyless Dent Removal.

That ding should be easy to fix, this happened to my wifes wagon in a parking lot. Guilty party didn’t leave a note either. My PDR guy based in south Riverside had it out in 2 hours.

How do you handle the touch-up?
