Probably be the best vehicle they build if it doesn't have a Kia or Hyundai internal combustion engine.

Can't speak for the Optima, but my wife has a '22 Kia Sorento Plug-in Hybrid. It's a very well done, reliable, solid vehicle. Lots of bells and whistles, too. She's averaging around 45 miles/gallon (it's an SUV), so I assume you'd get more with the Optima.

So we bought it... Has a seriously comfortable interior a very smooth ride and gobs of bells and whistles. I wish we could have picked up that Sorento or the tucson..... they don't sell them here, completely idiotic. These idiot commies are putting the squeeze on all of the US but the car companies can only make enough to sell to CA and a few other states? Moronic....

We actually got what could only be considered a deal, a 20 with 19k miles, the only damage is a teeny dime size nik on the front air dam. It's completely loaded, if we'd have bought new we'd have had to wait and the hit would have been around 50k, our before t&l tab was 5 k below the book price, which is nuts in our market.

We were going to do it last year, we should have, oh well. At these prices it'll likely pay for itself in no time, I drive a minimum of 60 miles a day, with stage 2 charger at work I should be mostly gas free and still have decent fool economy for longer trips.

We were going to do this anyway for preparedness reasons, between a power wall, wind and solar @ home with a back up NG generator we'll be set for power once the electricity prices start to climb.

Last year our power went out for damn near a week.

I've been wanting to get OTG for a long time, I figure this is the first step. Initially I wanted a gen 1 volt, but the wife needs something to sling real estate out of so we went with the Kia. We drove every phev we could, the only other car as comfortable was the clarity by honda but it's noisy and has a huge center console at the knees, and it's ugly on the outside.

Anyway thats what I did...... all day yesterday.

Now it'll be less painful to tool around in the guzzlers a few times a week.

LOL!! I was thinking the same thing. Somehow they'll find a way to make the electric motors blow up prematurely. And if it doesn't use their DCT... all the better!

@ $5/gallon the trip to work, 28 miles was less than a buck, according to the on board comp, I'm sure the average will improve over time..
