Med insurance deductible question

Hello

Here's one for you boyz thanks

I have a medical plan with a high deductible and I'm a hundred bucks from hitting it.

I have a few bills that just came in the mail totaling a few thousand bucks.

If I pay the smallest one and eclipse my deductible, does everything readjust and these larger bills will get reevaluated and disappear?

Thanks, new to the whole thing. It's most certainly a racket

Most likely you will need to call the insurance company to get it reevaluated.

I can only assume that Stephanie is right, but I'm positive that Gogar is right.

Typically, you end up loaning the money to the insurance company interest free

With the advent of the ACA, medical plans all changed.

Deductible isn't nearly such a big deal as it used to be. What is worth looking at, is the "Maximum Out of Pocket" limit.

The deductible is typically for items that are paid at a lesser %. Labs, Imaging are the most common. Once you hit a deductible, the labs and imaging cost go to zero (I think!)

But, the other costs will continue to accumulate until you exceed the Maximum Out of Pocket limit.

While I do sell these policies for a living, I always defer the details to a staff member. What you should do? Call up the agent and ask them what this means and how to best move forward. They are getting paid to answer your call.

Good luck. Health Insurance sucks.

Once you barely hit your deductible, you’ll need to ask the others to resubmit their bills to insurance for reimbursement.

What do your Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) say on the insurance company's website? They are the ones processing the claims and calculating the deductibles.

Did your procedures get billed to insurance? If you are hundreds away from reaching your deductible, then those bills should have been included in your deductible calculation. Are the bills for your copays?
