I've never seen a 959 with that kind of mileage on it - Somebody had a blast driving it.

100+k miles and recent receipts for ~$176k in work - What could possibly go wrong?

svandamme 03-26-2022 10:29 PM

100k miles? so it's finally broken in??

LWJ 03-27-2022 03:19 AM

I approve. Cars should be driven!

Fast Freddy 944 03-27-2022 03:48 AM

Big money!!! Go get your porsche, big dawg!

Shuskie15 03-27-2022 09:15 AM

Anyone want to go in with me? I'm good for a 1% share.

group911@aol.co 03-27-2022 04:28 PM

Be interesting to see what it brings. Looks cleaner than the miles shown.
Has to be the highest mile 959 out there.

sc_rufctr 03-27-2022 04:54 PM

A car like this gets driven. That has to be a good thing.
(Porsche sells an entire engine rebuild kit for these cars. If you can afford it there's no reason not to use them.)

The Sultan of Brunei and his family have a who bunch of special cars rotting away in storage.
- What's the point of that?

group911@aol.co 03-27-2022 05:12 PM

Well, what else you gonna do when you have that much money? Their excess probably helped Porsche survive some pretty tough times.

Mr Bob... I really don't mind what people spend their money on but sometimes you have to say "WT?". ;)

wouldn't surprise me if there is one with more
167000 km really isn't all that much for a 35 year old Porsche..only takes 5K a year to rack that up.
And there's nothing in a 959 that made it less reliable or less able to do the highway kilometers...

for instance one that ran with a German business man, 1st owner , never been sold
or a test mule at the factory

a 300K+ specimen is very likely to live somewhere

Every day that I see the title of this thread...I see it as 'Mile high 959 available'
Why?

group911@aol.co 03-28-2022 06:53 PM

Denver of course.

Would be a good club to belong to.

The car is then known to have been shipped to New Zealand, prior to being acquired at auction in 2016

New Zealand. I dunno if that's a good thing. Our roads are pretty bad. For instance this is the main road through the centre of town. Still gravel.

Well i reckon it never got out of Wellington, did it.
then again, it is allwheel drive and the chassis has done a 1-2 win in the hands of Metge and Jackie Ickx in Paris-Dakar back when it still was Paris to Dakar

Bill Douglas 03-28-2022 11:46 PM

Umm, good point. It would chew up any road like our main street pictured above.

svandamme 03-29-2022 12:05 AM

If I had the money to buy this car I'd make sure it was well used. Why wouldn't you?

Anyone that had the spare change to spend on something like this isn't going to be too worried about the maintenance and repair bills.
