Anyone hunt with an air bow?

I didn't know such a thing existed. Looks cool though.

It looks a lot nicer than a crossbow.

Lewis and Clark should have brought one along with the air gun.

Damn man! Does that thing shoot over 10fps? Btw, you've go blazers on those arrows so not quite old school. You gotta go straight up turkey feathers. Better yet go full on recurve like a good friend of mine did last winter. Now THAT is old school.

Me, I just sit in my tree stand with a knife in my teeth waiting for some poor unsuspecting Bambi to walk below me... then I spring into action! I jump from the stand, silently mind you, onto the deer, fight it to the ground and slit its throat. Then while the heart is still warm I feast!

The lack of new hunting gear. And possibly a bit of noise when firing. A crossbow makes a pretty good smacking sound. Modern compound bows are pretty quiet.

Well, if your regular bullets are too effective and do not make the animal suffer enough, you get an airbow and hurt them plenty before they die.

Use your second amendment and hunt with a (long)spoon, instead of toy.

Can't. We live in Ohio so we can't use the big stuff. Shotguns with slugs and straight wall cartridges only for rifles. And at up to 450 fps and 2" groups at 50 yards, that thing is DEFINITELY no toy.

Not a children's toy, toy for grown ups. (any tool that is not up to the job is nothing more than a toy)
I don't care how good it groups. If it does not instantly drop a white tail at point blank range, it is not the right tool for the job.
Did you see the video I linkposted? As a hunter, I feel shame in that guy's place.

By big stuf, do you mean longspoons or big calibers?
If you can't use the big stuff, you shouldn't be shooting the big game either. that's just common sense.

You do know that even with a "long spoon" that deer would have reacted the same way right? They don't just magically drop when shot. It's called "running dead" and deer do that regardless of the method used to harvest. My friend put two shots in a buck last fall. Both through the heart with a .450 (Yes we looked when we field dressed the deer) the deer still ran about 40 yards before it finally dropped. The only way you drop one in its steps is spine or head shot. Anything short of that, it'll run.

BTW, that shot, pretty much textbook from what I saw.

With al well placed shot the dear will drop instantly or make a small run for it. Like 40 yards.
The white tail that got the arrow (in the link I posted) was shot during daylight and found at night... I think it did a lot more than 40 yards.
A bullet would have killed it a lot quicker. It does a lot more internal damage.
An arrow just makes it bleed out.
And At least with a spoon, you can try and shoot it again when it starts to run.

FWIW, many bow hunters wait quite a while before they start tracking a deer. I'm one of the rare ones among my hunting friends who immediately starts tracking the deer I shot. But typically the deer I shoot go less than 50 yards.

And bullets, at least not in the calibers we can legally use, don't do much more damage in my experience. I've seen guys using Rage broadheads and the damage done is way more than even the damage I've seen from a 1oz slug.

Watch the video again, that shot was pretty much textbook. Probably took out both lungs with that shot. I would argue that the Buffalo they took was probably worse than the deer. The deer was a pass through shot. The buffalo? not so much.
