When are lawn tractor tires bad

We've got a zero turn that's about 4 years old. It's not uncommon for the back tires to spin which is a pain when trying to maneuver. Is that normal or an indication that they are old and need to be replaced?

Zero turns will spin the tires easily if proper turning isn’t used and will also rip up grass. My zero turn is 4 or 5 years old and tires are fine and that’s cutting about 3 acres per cut. Try smoothing out your turns.

Spinning is a factor of the tread profile on a zero turn. I have a large Kubota zero turn that, in certain conditions, spins rear tires like a DJ spins records. The dealer recommended against a more aggressive tread profile.

I have learned to pivot less aggressively on specific lawn conditions...may not be your problem, but it was mine. Much less spin.

I love zero turns! Mine got the pre-season check-out yesterday and will get out next week.

I have some smaller MF tractors I bought twenty years ago that still have their original tires.

OK. I've kind of assumed it was just the nature of things, but wanted to confirm. And this mostly happens in odd/unusual circumstances, not on flat, level ground when doing normal mowing.

And yes, ours has the "lawn friendly" tires.

When you do need tires consider ATV tires . You can get more aggressive tread pattern without going crazy . Then load them with windshield washer fluid you will be good to go. You still have to maneuver smartly but tread plus weight is the way to go .

This. And if the grass is the least bit wet...
Also climbing-I have a steep area next to the house that stays damp in the shade, gotta ease up the over the top or I can get a little spin in the combined turn/climb, but you can creep without slowing the deck down, which is the beauty of a zt.

Id purchase some new ones, you will get the vehicle running like new with fresh sneekers.

I'm considering going with some of the "no-air" fronts. I guess they are normal tires that have been filled with foam. I got some flats, and converted to tubes, but I'm still getting flats.

The rears seem OK, so I'll probably leave those for now.
