Long-nose locking pliers
So I picked up some 9” long-nose Vice Grip brand locking pliers at a garage sale sometime in the distant past. They were pretty well used up and I have served to just about finish them off. I seem to use these to do all sorts of tasks that were never intended but non-the-less work very well.
And now, I want to buy some “good” ones. And everything I see looks really poorly made. Who makes good locking pliers? I really like that I can clamp a high load in the tips. This is exceeding the design engineering but it is how I mostly use them. Ideas? |

Knipex makes them. All I have from them is great stuff.

I’ve been looking at Knipex. Great reputation. Not sure if the jaws close parallel and the teeth line up. Read a review that said otherwise.

I have bought some Irwin mini vise grip pliers, long nose and regular. Their quality is excellent. |
I'd like to see these close up.

Original "Vise Grip" pliers: Even people who don't own tools own these
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1648560597.jpg Or get one of these, which will do most of what you'd use locking pliers for: https://www.grainger.com/product/60EF99?gucid=N:N:PS:Paid:MS:CSM-2293:MOO74J:20501231&s_kwcid=AL!2966!10!7916497062 3612!4582764481700585&ef_id=2fdcd90f61bc19e590fbbb 4c6964d4a3:G:s&msclkid=2fdcd90f61bc19e590fbbb4c696 4d4a3&gclid=2fdcd90f61bc19e590fbbb4c6964d4a3&gclsr c=3p.ds http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1648560399.jpg |
I have 3 pairs of these from different manufacturers.
With all 3 the tips bend over if not perfectly lined up. I'm still looking. |
Waiting on the new thread for long nose picking pliers.

I’ll have to take an updated picture tomorrow. The Vice Grip section has grown. Some are over 50 years old.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1648608551.jpg
