Off-road, 2 wheelers.

Some Gent on here said post up a off road bike thread. Just took the little 250R out for a spin. Jetting is a tad off, so I need to go up richer 1 step. Been in storage for a few years, Premix is stale. Anyways, throw up your off road bike images. No back flippers please. LOL!

This was my last off-road bike:

I owned the bike for a long, long time.

I am looking at some alternatives for retirement adventures.

Nice XR bruh! I bet you had some good adventures on it. Looks good, Id like to find a 85 XR-350 some day when my budget allows. Those bikes are well built.

Hopefully not off the original topic too much - Anybody ever have (or still have) a Rokon? Impressions?

It was great. Your bike looks the business.

We used to call these, "girl friend bikes" in the 80's. I had an XR350 that I sold when I left California but kept the smaller bike.

I was a recreational guy only, never enough seat time to get beyond being competent.

I kept the bike in the picture at China Lake, Ridgecrest, at a friends house when I was stationed in San Diego. So many great days in the desert and up in Kennedy Meadows.

When I bought the farm in 1995 I shipped it here and rode the farm trails for 15 years. My son learned to ride on it, etc. Sterling memories.

Great thread,

Great thread,
Awesome story Seahawk. I like the name "girlfriend bike" That has a nice ring to it. Thanks for the compliment! I Bet the 350 was a blast to ride, trail riding out in the trails and desert sounds like a blast. Sterling moments.

Rokon was or might still be manufactured in Rhode Island. I never saw one up close, Rick on Pawn Stars did a restore on his and it turned out great. The front wheel holds fuel in it, and it was yellow and green. Its no speed demon, but more of a slow trail bike that can climb mountains, and is good for hunting. I remember seeing ads on it in popular mechanics.

Matt’s off-road recovery is having Ed’s old Rokon restored. My brother had one for years. More of a farm implement than a motorbike.

I just sold my 2006 last year. Sold it to a deer hunter. Hopefully he'll use it more than I did. Cool motorcycle for what it does. The wheels are fuel cells, giving it a 500 mile range. Basically a two wheel drive tractor. Top speed 35mph but the thing would climb a wall. A trippy bike for sure but a novelty for me. Be good in Alaska or somewhere where you need the range

We used to ride with a guy that had a Rokon, it took a special riding style ( 0 engine braking ) and with the snowmobile type drive it was bloody and scary fast

While my wife and daughter toured colleges for Spring Break, I burned premix.

Four rides in the 8 days. Damn. I’m tired.

I would post a picture but I am on an IPad and I can’t figure it out.

Husqvarna TX300.

Current bike is a 2003 Honda CR250 2 stroke and also have an old CR125. I have been riding since about 1971 when my dad would set me on his Z50 Minitrail and put it in gear then give me a shove to get going. I was too short to reach the ground so when done riding circles in the yard he would run out and grab me to get me off it.

Rode CT70's XR75's etc most every day in the mid to late 70's. Friends and I would ride to each others houses miles away and get into all sorts of trouble.

Later had old used KX250 and then Honda CR250. In college I finally got an old clapped out CR250 race bike and joined local MX track club with a buddy who had a truck and trailer to haul our bikes. Started practicing several times a week at track and racing. Almost immediately I started winning the 250C class and the following year bought a slightly newer CR250 ('86) and won nearly every race entered. Following year I got a '90 new CR250 and qualified for and raced the Lorretta Lynn's Amateur National Championship. Following year I qualified and raced same race in 250B class. After that, injuries, living on my own and working for a living made me give it up.

After many other hobbies including airplanes, snowmobiles, race cars etc, Nothing comes close to the thrill I got out of the great sport of MX racing. I truly miss it to this day and likely still have a few more 50+ races in me. (my wife may not agree)

I have some mini MX bikes for my grandkids and if I get one hooked and am at the track for them anyway.... might as well sign up for the 50+ class.

Now thats a cool bike, the air hammer ktoom! Those pro-lever bikes were the snizz. I had a air cooled 84 500R that I raced/rode and it was a hoot. Air cooled simplicity, big bore on a modern 80's style frame. Cool bike bruh!

You da man, dawg! My buddies had a 81 Z-50 and it was bullet proof. My other buddy got a 82 xr-100 and it was pretty cool. All of past bikes were paid for by flipping burgers and hard labor. I wasn't blessed with a chance to race with the big shots, just local stuff. I had to pay for my schooling..working and going to school was how it went for me. You are da man!

Other than my dad's Z50 and aclapped out CT70 a friend gave him, all my bikes as a kid were clapped out clunkers that I bought broken then fixed with paper route and mowing money. That is why I never got to race as a kid.... My bikes were not race worthy and my parents did not have a pickup truck to haul me to the races nor did they have the money or interest to support me racing. My eventual racing in the late 80's was on a shoestring budget and was helped out by older friends I made at the track (helped me by taking me to the big races with their racing kids in their campers/motorhomes). My only "new" last race bike was stupidly purchased with a loan while in college (I worked my way through college with Army reserve money and part time jobs). By the time I was racing, it was primarily against highschool kids with parents who supplied them with brand new bikes and gear. When they got hurt they got to stay home from school... when I got hurt I missed work and rent payments.

Still.... it was the best time of my life.

I had a very similar KTM 420 that was a shear adrenaline machine. 0 to 60 as
fast as you could shift the gears.
I did not like the the left foot kickstarter...

Here is a picture I stole off the web of my bike with a skilled rider - not me! Love the two-stroke!

My wife has this model bike. It is a 4 stroke, unlike the sound effects in the movie.

The day she brought it home.

Mine from a few years ago before I got the numbers on it.
