Guess the tool

Just bought this today.
Maybe common to many...I had never used one.
The shank is flexible.

Oil Drain plug removal tool.

stevej37 03-30-2022 05:13 PM

^^^ Yep...loosen the plug a turn with a wrench and get the magnetic end near the plug.
Turn it out without getting hot oil running down your hand or having to fish it out of the drain pan. :)

OK, I like that. Where'd you get it? Got a link to share with us?

stevej37 03-30-2022 05:18 PM

No problem...

There's a removable pan under the oil pan. :)

I have them on both cars shown below....love them, they work great.

Ah. Late in life I find out such a thing exists.

Clever tool!

Have you tried it yet?

supdaf 03-31-2022 01:25 AM

i will give it a shot. just bought one.

svandamme 03-31-2022 02:45 AM

waste of money cause you'll still have the drip from the oil filter on a wasserpumping flat 6

Nope..just got it. Here's a video where I first saw it.

cabmandone 03-31-2022 04:10 AM

Nope! Not for me. I like getting hot oil all over my hands. I like the challenge of trying to remove the drain plug without getting oil all over my hands. Makes the day more interesting!

svandamme 03-31-2022 04:10 AM

agree smelling like hot oil is what being a man is all about

cabmandone 03-31-2022 04:11 AM

Hot oil and exhaust fumes... aka Man cologne.

is that like a Millenial Mechanic?
All positive and upbeat and not grumpy or anything, more petroleum in his hair then on his hands and clothes?

Wouldn't let him touch my cayman even if he paid me for it!!
