Finally watched it last night. My daughter loved it when it came out months ago, and she's been egging me on to see it.
Bizarre. That's my word for it. I enjoyed it.. but it's got to be one of the weirdest movies I've ever seen (that was good/enjoyable). My daughter described the theme as generational trauma. Heck, I'm so old, I don't even know what that term means. In my simple, agedond, it's a movie about family. I liked it. But one thing: When they spoke in Chinese, why did they flip back and forth between Mandarin and Cantonese?! In one scene, a character would speak one dialect. Later on (sometimes in the same scene), they would flip to the other dialect. That doesn't happen in real life. |
