nice start to the day!

I play the Michigan Online Lottery almost every morning.
This was a $2 bet. I never play after winning more than my bet. It's fun!
A person has the option of keeping the winnings in their account or having it transferred to their bank account at any time.

I learned how to count a long time ago, and learned about odds in Jr. High or maybe before.

If you keep gambling at a level of entertainment and spending at levels of going out to eat, and the movies or basket ball game tickets it is just fun and harmless. I have a local horse race track just 6 miles or so from my house. In 35 years I have been twice. It is fun to put down 2 bucks on a race and cheer on a horse. I brought 20 bucks to blow and I blew it all on bets and had fun. It was not worth going back.

Just have fun with it, and enjoy disposing of disposable income.

^^^ I get what you are saying.
I think it's been three years since I started playing. I have deposited to my account a few times (only when they offer 2 for 1 or similar)
My account is up to about $500 now....which is prob close to what I've deposited total.

For three years of playing....I've spent money on worse.

How much did you win Steve?

stevej37 03-31-2022 08:29 AM

^^^ Four lines...$57.50
nowhere near a fortune...but I only bet a couple dollars each time.

They offer about a hundred diff games online. This one is called Mega Bucks.

stevej37 03-31-2022 08:41 AM

Just as in any gambling game...the more you bet, the bigger the winnings.
If I would have bumped my bet up to $20 on the pull...it would have been a lot nicer payoff. (hindsight)

The pic is from the winning page afterwards. During the game..it's a full slot machine with sound.

One of my co-workers was always bragging out how he won money at the horse track. The track also has a full blown casino. He talked about winning a lot of money, but one day he came in rather disheveled. He was bankrupt, and the sheriff had foreclosed on his house, and they hauled off his car. He had leveraged everything he had on gambling debts and lost it all. So yea, he won on occasion, but lost a lot more. He declared bankruptcy, and lived on friends couches for a few months. His family had all disowned him until he stopped gambling. Like any addiction, he had a tough time getting back on his feet.

To keep it as just entertainment and a fun thing to do is the key. I can blow $100 on dinner at a fancy restaurant meal with my wife when we meet another couple. I see people going to Vegas and spending $100 a person for food, and $20 for a cup of coffee. Not this cheap bastage.

^^^ The amount I spend on the Mich Lottery is less than any of my other bills.
It's purely for entertainment. That's why I never continue play after winning.

I'll never be like Jerry...my hero.:)

I'm a small time Lotto player every week and I don't mind being a constant loser as it's quite a well run organisation with money that's not handed out in prizes going to charity.

Reminds me of the time my brother and I went to Hot August Nights in Reno one year a long long time ago.
We decided to go late and couldn't find a room in Reno, so ended up staying at a Travelodge down the road in Carson City(?).
They had coupons in the room for $5 worth of 'coins' at various casino's in town. We took them all and went on a 'big spenders spree' by playing with only that money. Final $3 went into a slot right in front of the door at one casino and we hit a big $100 jackpot. All the play stopped at the poker table behind us as we hooted and hollered something fierce about winning.
It paid for our room and the trip. We were living high back then. (gas was cheap then too)

The corner gas station down the street from me had someone win $5M on a $20 scratch off ticket. After taxes it was $3.7M

I would much rather spend extra cash on the state lottery than one of the many sports gambling sites.

flatbutt 03-31-2022 12:13 PM

I prefer a good morning BJ. YMMV

stevej37 03-31-2022 12:16 PM

^^^ Normally that doesn't make much money for you....usually the opposite.

Nice night for a walk.

I've never understood gambling on the regular but have played the lottery on occasion. I have known two folks in the last 40 years who've won big $3+ million lottery's in WA state. One was a person I worked with. She seemed to do ok with it. Bought a modest home, kept working. The other was the ex of a friend. They were separated when she bought the ticket, she'd been cheating on him. Anyway, long story. Her life didn't turn out so great.

for some reason, my original post pic disappeared. Try again.

I know someone that won the million dollar win for life, twice. She was already retired with a nice pension from the phone company.

I’ve been playing the same 6 numbers on NY lotto for 25 years. Problem is that I go weeks or months without playing and then get super paranoid that those numbers are going to come up without me. I wish I had never come up with those numbers and just played quick picks

The first time I played the lottery, I filled in the numbers, trying to be random. After that, I let the machine pick. That said, I only play when it gets to some ridiculous number like $500 million.
