A guy I went to high school with had one, it was black and almost always broken to some extent. It was pretty beat by the time he landed it .
Pretty unique car at its time, especially in this area . I sort of always liked them from afar.

Fred,
EVERYTHING is hot currently. I called a dealer inquiring about a Ford Maverick pickup. They have an "order bank" that is currently closed.

I have a similar long distance like for the Lancia Delta Integrale Evoluzione.
I'd be stoopid to ever buy one.

Yeah even my old mother in law from the 50s is in the upward
Plenty of rust and broken parts
20 footer at best

Seahawk 04-04-2022 06:36 AM

Holy cow. My Mom had that car, only in silver.

My SIL just ordered a Bronco Sport. Lucky for her that her brother (my BIL) is a GM at a Ford dealership. Otherwise, I would expect her to be paying well above MSRP.

They've always been hot.

I've wanted an URQ for 20 years now but they were a) hard to come by, at least unmolested ones that weren't going to require selling a kidney to sort out and b) not cheap.

craigster59 04-04-2022 07:40 AM

I'm curious to see what the markup will be on the 2023 GR Corolla....

no she didn't

That is an UR Quattro, homologation special, barely street legal. I bet they lost $20,000 on every one of those cars.

Yup. Always wanted an UrQ. Also an E30 M3. Findable, but $$$$$$$$. And for both, condition is everything.

Oops.

I just looked at the pretty picture.

The car I see in the FB ad is not a Sport Homologation. Looks like a regular UrQ to me. They didn't import as many in '85 as previous years so, for the US market a bit more rare but, certainly Seahawk's Mom could have had a Silver UrQ. Or, maybe it was the GT Coupe which looks very similar but without the obvious flaring and not AWD obviously.

My friend three houses down (GRHS) had an '84 or '85 UrQ. Can't recall the specific year now but, I know it wasn't an '83. He sold it and got his SC. Several of my Sat. coffee Mates are hard core Audi nuts and I've been around and driven several of these over the years.

VERY capable cars and like Porsche, the lumps are very much interchangeable.. 16V to 20V, etc.

Back to the OP, I think the car is overpriced and represents the rare overzealous BAT money dumper.

I think the RS3 and TTRS are interesting from nearly all perspectives except the engine being transverse mounted. It's irrational but tempers my enthusiasm a fair bit. The turbo 5 cyl. engines have found their way into 944s swaps and their characteristic sound and boost popoff is pretty iconic!

HobieMarty 04-04-2022 06:05 PM

I've always thought those cars were pretty cool. I remember they dominated IMSA racing at the time and were eventually banned if I recall correctly.

I don't see the pricing numbers so far. Think of a Corolla giving your 3.2 a run for its money.

I test drove one back in the early 90's. In fresh snow even. I wasn't impressed with the car. Didn't like the way it drove, but maybe that's because it was my first AWD that wasn't a pickup truck. I remember it seeming really cheap on the inside. I short time later I ended up buying an E30 M3 from the same dealer.

fanaudical 04-04-2022 08:50 PM

Yep - They are hot and also not many survived well. I've looked casually for 20+ years and have yet to find one "available". It's probably easier to find a urS4 at this point...

911boost 04-04-2022 10:04 PM

I am in the process of ordering a 2022 6 speed Corolla hatch for my college aged daughter this week, I read about the GR and while I am sure she would love that, our insurance would not…

If I was going to get an Audi, one of those would be on the top of my list.

skinnerd 04-04-2022 10:44 PM

Almost bought this Ur Quattro on BaT last year, but didn't get it done.
And yes they are rare and expensive.
Quirky...but that engine sound.

Instead, I tracked down a low mileage Delta Integrale instead.
Crazy to consider either, but hey...I owned an early 911 and a 914 previously. :p:D

There are 2 of those Lancia's running around C'ville, and I want to talk to the guys, but I only see them out driving rather "enthusiastically".
