My wife might be going through peri-menopause. Right now, it's mostly the temperature changes. She's always been a bit emotional, and gripes about work like Asphaltgambler's wife does--every day. Literally never just has a good day. I kinda get it, since she manages a major retail store and that's not the greatest environment, but it does get old.

Fortunately (?), I've got my own "emotional struggles," so she knows there are days that I just want to be alone and not deal with any humans, and she's pretty good with giving me space when I need it. That card may need to be pulled out a little more often if menopause gets as bad as some people describe it ;)

My wife is an oral surgical assistant at a large practice here in Northern Va. It is a very fast-paced, high-stressed job on a regular day. But, over the years as the older doctors left and younger ones came in, bought into the practice, their greed has trumped anything of value.

So we sat down a few weeks ago, had an honest conversation about her work environment (only). I told her that nothing is worth this stress. So she has decided to request to work at a different location, the hours are less, the doctor has a more predictable schedule and the co-workers are more mature. It is the best short-term option for her now, to greatly reduce the long and unpredictable hours in her workweek.

Don't be surprised if it changes post.

Ohh no it ain't. She started maybe 4 years ago. It was the same then, same now.

The One-A-Day Menopause Formula Vitamins fixed my wife's hot flash problem immediately.

Can I suggest tofu or soy being added to the diet? Soy can mimic estrogen a little and relieve some symptoms. Good luck.

My wife went through it early - in her forties - but, thank god, quickly. That was twenty years ago, and the frustration of the ordeal has faded with time.

My wife is just hitting this point recently. She has been in good spirits but in the past month is getting terrible migraines w/ nausea. Talked to MD, apparently menopausal migraines are a thing. Looking at hormone replacement therapy at the moment to help. I feel for her, its been hell for her the past couple of weeks w/ the migraines. She's always been fit, healthy, active and this is really taking her down a notch.

HRT (hormone replacement therapy) may be an option but I've also heard negative things about it.

The ex-Mrs Beard went into Menopause at 39. HRT really helped, with all aspects. She was acting like 25-30. Still hormonal issues, but more "normal" than the up/down, inside out stuff.

HRT, at least for her, was basically REALLY strong birth control pills.

O/P

I read this to my wife who is at the Peri stage right now. She said a good doc will do frequent blood work (2x a year or until balanced) then Bio identical hormone therapy is the ticket. Birth control pills might work ( remember when off label = bad lol) but is not ideal. Her pharmacy has to make her prescription in house to fill it, old school.

Good diet, exercise (cardio, weights and yoga) and avoiding alcohol except on occasion are also crucial.

Her doc used to be her OBGYN. She is now primarily a GP for women as she saw a big problem with how traditional docs were treating women. This is her docs website:

https://riobeintegrativemedicine.com/

I hope this helps.

Yeah, going through it right now. Nobody is having fun when mom is around.

Everything I’ve ever read about the condition is that it does not now nor ever has existed.

It’s a man-made-up delusion to enslave, belittle and control women and keep them out of high-level executive positions of authority.
