RIP Dwayne Haskins.

Apparently struck by a car and killed.

That is very sad...only 24 years old.

KFC911 04-09-2022 09:59 AM

Simply tragic.... so young :(

RIP Dwayne...

Very sad , what a rotten way to go . RIP young man

Run over by a dump truck crossing a hwy on foot. One split second error in judgement ends a promising young life starting off with riches, fame and who knows what else. Such a shame

stevej37 04-09-2022 01:25 PM

I was just reading some more about it...he was crossing the westbound I-595 on foot.
That is one crazy busy highway...how did he even get to it on foot?
Maybe his vehicle broke down?

KFC911 04-09-2022 01:36 PM

I also noticed the time given... 6:37 am... still before daylight. Maybe the hwy wasn't that busy, but something doesn't seem to add up. Hate to speculate tho' ... it's simply tragic, regardless of the events that led up to his death.

I often try to walk across an interstate
at 6:30 am
nothing unusual about that

stevej37 04-12-2022 04:39 AM

A good article....

shocking

Quote:

Haskins, who died just weeks before his 25th birthday, had a blood alcohol content of .20 at the time of his death – nearly 2.5 times the legal limit for driving in the state of Florida, according to the Broward County Medical Examiner's Office.

The report also noted traces of ketamine and norketamine in his system, painkillers that are prescribed by a doctor but have been known to be abused recreationally.

Per the news I read, he had run out of gas and was standing in the middle of the interstate trying to flag down help ???

That would explain how someone that you would otherwise expect to be fairly speedy with excellent reflexes could end up in that situation.

And with ketamine and 2.5X the legal limit for alcohol in his blood and a woman in the car who is not his wife.

‘I know. I’ll get in front of a speeding dump truck to stop it.’

stevej37 05-24-2022 04:01 PM

I-595 goes from the airport (FLL) west to the cities edge...it's 4-5 lanes of traffic almost the whole way.
Frogger

cabmandone 05-24-2022 05:16 PM

I knew there had to be more to the story. It sucks for his family that this was made public. If he was Dwayne Haskins factory worker, the story ended with him being struck and killed. But he was Dwayne Haskins troubled professional football player.
