Are you watching the Grand Prix of Long Beach?

This Friday the Acura Grand Prix Long Beach kicks off! Is anyone attending?

Saturday have always been my favorite day of the weekend because of the IMSA race. This year looks pretty exciting with the historic GTP challenge race going on as well.

Here's a few quick pics I took over the years at Long Beach.

A bit sad about this year. Pics of some of my credentials from past years. Went to the first F1 race and have only missed 5 since then

I did a couple of laps in the Indycar experience car driven by Jack Brabham’s grandson. Mario Andretti was driving the lead car - he’s 84 I think. It was the most violent driving experience I’ve ever had. Truly amazing how fast those cars accelerate and brake.

No. I probably would watch more but the I either can't find the races on TV or can't follow the schedule.

And I have trouble calling it a Grand Prix. Surprised F1 hasn't found a way to lay claim to that name and prohibit all others from using it.

We lived in Savannah GA right before the Atlanta Olympics. There was Greek restaurant on the river that was called Olympic something or other. When the IOC Olympic folks came for a site visit they were quick to take action and force the restaurant to change name.

I can remember taking a day off work to go see practice on Fridays. It was free to get in back then and you could see all the different cars etc.
Now it costs even for that so I haven't been in quite a while. Can see it better on TV anyways. They block the view so much along the track you can only see the cars from the grandstands which puts you a long ways away from them.

Its really easy-Peacock has everything, all practices, qualifiers, and races. Most of the races themselves are on NBC.

Thanks.

Sometimes I see a commercial tease and it always surprises me. Maybe I'm crazy but it seems like the Indy Car calendar doesn't flow like F1, like usually every 2 weeks.

No, you're not crazy. Everyone in the Indycar fanbase complains about the early season gaps. Its due to teams not being able to fund more than the current number of races, along with network tv slots. F1 and Nascar are every weekend, Indycar not so much. The beauty of Peacock is you don't have to set a "recording" - the races and quali are available later. I usually do add them to "my stuff" just to make them easier to find.
