A friend of mine gave me a pair of zippos over the weekend. They date 1960 and are unfired. Boxes and contents are pristine!

A man once brought his grandfather's "cruiser" jacket to the main Filson store in Seattle. Being over 100 years old, it was in need of repair which the customer requested. The clerk examined the jacked and determined it was a very very early Filson jacket. Filson was founded in 1897 and has unconditionally guaranteed its products ever since.

The clerk gave the customer two options:

1). Filson would repair the jacket as requested
2). Filson would keep the jacket for its historical value, pay the customer $500 for it, and give the customer a brand new identical "cruiser" jacket.

The customer chose Option 1. This is common, since Filson stuff looks better used than it did when new.

Brystons moto is music for a generation 20y transferable unconditional warrantee on all their non digital products

Sent them an integrated amplifier I bought 15 years ago and the serviced it and did return shipping for free. Had it back in 2 wks. It was still functional just one of the LEDs was a bit wonky. They also updated the firmware and replaced the volume knob with an improved later part.

expensive stuff but pretty fantastic service for the stereo industry.

Update: Old zippo came back today. Filled it with some coleman fuel (also naptha..close to lighter fluid). sparked the wheel, and flame the first time. Looking at it burn, it hit me..I was 21 the first time I fired it...now I'm 78.

Yep, a damned fine guarantee...

Had my B-60 fixed twice within the 20 years free. Just had volume pot replaced at 21 years old. Wasn’t cheap but I can’t complain. Great product and service

Yep...almost as old as the ones in the pic Ales posted. Note the $3.50 1960 price. Probably about what I paid. It cost me nearly $5.00 to ship mine back to Zippo.

No idea what a new Zippo sells for. Inflation...the cruelest tax of all.

Also, I can remember when dirt was rocks...

That is so cool. My dad always used Zippos, he had two or three he kept in various places. I sure wish I knew what happened to them, he passed away in 1978 when I was only 18 years old. They would be a very cool memento. I have lots of other stuff that was his, that reminds me of him, but that sound of the lid flipping open and shut is something that will always, immediately remind me of him, no matter where I hear it.

This will not be familiar to most of you, but Canadian Tire has an incredible warranty program on tools, kicks the hell out of dealing with Snap on. Back when I used to work at height installing awnings, I had a mastercraft (CT in house brand) 3/8 ratchet I had used for years before that job. Using it with a snipe resulted in it's untimely demise, entirely my own fault. I took it back to CT, answered that yes of course it was used for home use only, and they directed me to take my pick of what they had in stock. The same ratchet surprisingly was out of stock at the time, so the lady offered to upgrade me to the carbon frame super light weight ratchet, if I paid the cost delta of 30$. So I did, and enjoyed the advantage of the super light ratchet not weighing down my belt as I worked. However, the carbon units were not as drop tolerant, resulting in me replacing the carbon unit 6 times under warranty after dropping from height cracked the head. On the seventh warranty replacement, I said to the clerk that maybe carbon wasn't the best option for work at height, and I would like to replace it with the chrome steel unit. He happily complied, and gave me back the 30$ difference I had paid three seasons before.

I just had a wonderful on line service experience with Keiser Corporation.
I have their M3 exercise bike- great spin machine. Smoothest I have ever seen.
I am way past their 10yr warranty, bike is about 15yrs old. Moderate use.
5 grandkids and other little relatives all less than 8yrs old were here for a week- and somehow/someone simply snapped the display monitor off the stand- probably hanging on it.
I did try some glue- no luck. Tried fiberglass and epoxy- ugly but workable.
I called the company. In 5min they had the part, a video on how to replace it and it was shipped.
Easy, nice people. I did have to buy the part as it was well out of warranty, cost me $14- but worth every penny.

Best guarantee or just good people.

I had a Ryobi sabre saw that had seen a lot of use. It was very aged from lots of work and being dropped off ladders onto concrete floors etc.

I needed a small part for it and the Ryobi guy said sure but it's very hard to fit it. We'll fit it for free. how good is that. Then three weeks later the shop phones to say they couldn't get the part in a reasonable period of time so have given you a brand new one. Ryobi!
