Ever been robbed in a drive thru?

0530 at a drive thru coffee shop at 12th street and Glendale in Phoenix. Which is a nice part of Phoenix. Ordering some coffee at the window and i watch a guy walk around the side of my truck to the back and start to go through the bed looking for stuff to steal! I get out and the kid has pinpoint pupils, dried blood on the side of the face. The kid tries to square up to me to fight. We're talking in my face maybe a foot. I tell him to get going/leave before there's a problem. Took 30 seconds for it register in the kid's head before he backs down and leaves. The kids working the Dutch Bros just locked the windows and watched. They're softer targets than me.

To be blatantly robbed/attempted at the drive thru of a dutch bros is just bizarre...

I got approached by a guy not long ago but in a Taco Bell drive through near there @ 11:30 pm… Tried to get in my passenger door… looked at me and them just walked away…. Bizarre..

No. But a long time ago while in high school, I was hanging out late one night at a Jack in the Box when a friend, Ernie, got in the drive through line. He was driving a big 4X4 truck and wearing a cowboy hat. Oh, and Ernie was about 6'-5" and weighed about 250 pounds.

Some middle aged drunk driving a beat up POS sedan got behind Ernie and started yelling obscenities at Ernie for no particular reason, other than having an apparent intense dislike of cowboys, judging by what he was saying. Ernie just ignored him until the drunk decided to ram Ernie's truck a few times, thereby destroying the front end of his 50-dollar POS against Ernie's formidable an unscathed rear bumper. Even so, Ernie had enough. He got out of his truck, threw his cowboy hat in the bed of the truck, and grabbed the drunk by the collar and pounded the drunk in the face a few times. The drunk then backed up and sped away. We all had a good laugh and Ernie got his super taco.

Not a robbery or assault story, but it did take place in a drive through.
One day in'79, the girl in the drive through booth alerted me to a car that wouldn't start and was blocking the way. I took a quick look out the side door and saw a huge old Chrysler Imperial with a little old lady behind the wheel. I grabbed three guys from the kitchen and we flew out to move the huge old beast. I think it was Ken I asked to put the car in neutral so we might have a chance to budge it. He reported it was in Drive, flipped it into Park and hit the key. We didn't have to push. Poor old girl had switched off in gear and panicked when it wouldn't start again.
Whole episode lasted maybe 60 seconds.

A woman wielding a “large knife” climbed through a Taco Bell drive-thru and stole cash in North Carolina, police said.

Officers responded to reports of an armed robbery at the restaurant on Akron Drive in Winston-Salem just before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, the Winston-Salem Police Department said in a news release.

Investigators discovered that a woman in her 40s had climbed through the drive-thru window while “swinging a knife” and taken a cash drawer with “an undisclosed amount of money,” police said.

I was riding in the gang truck on the way to a summer job. We're at the McDs drive thru when some junk noggin reaches into the bed from the rear. The boss put it in reverse just for a foot or so and that handled it.

My brother got a DUI in a Taco Bell drive through. He was driving this and smashed into the window's overhang. Tow company didnt have anything that could move it, so I had to drive it home.



Thankfully, he turned himself around, runs a sober living home and is also a consultant in the oil industry. Has an even bigger truck now..

No but drive through windows can be very vulnerable places if you are sandwiched in between other vehicles and cannot go anywhere.

That looks just like the truck that Ernie was driving (post #6), except his was black. You can see why the drunk's car didn't fare so well. His hood looked like the super taco that Ernie ordered.

"Touch wood" but I've never had anyone attempt to rob me. What has happened a few times is physical confrontations but so far I've come out of those OK.

This short video highlights some important points when trying to deal with someone who may become aggressive. The goal here is to do things that will stop a situation escalating and IMO this guy knows what he's talking about.
