Mid Atlantic resort town, child predators

We live just outside OC Md which is a very small town that gets very big in the summer with tourists. Historically this was a blue collar town that folks working shift jobs got a week off and came 'downey ocean hun' for some r&r. Our crime problems generally revolve around idiot teen senior weekers in June, drunken firefighters a bit later and of late the flat brimmed hat fast and furious set just being complete douchebags. IOW normal stuff. Normal people blowing off steam and forgetting the rules when on vacation.

The other day my wife, a teacher, told me a story related from one of her kids parents. It is terrifying.

This past summer dad and two daughters were enjoying the rides on the boardwalk when two adult males and one adult female started trying to distract the dad from the younger daughter. When dad picked up on it and reacted one of the males pushed dad against a wall and created a scene yelling 'these aren't your kids, what are you trying to do!' while the female tried to grab the youngest girl. Daughter number two was getting off a ride and saw this developing so she took out her phone and called 911 at which point the adult woman told her accomplices 'lets get out of here'.

The commotion was such that a person witnessing the scene was fooled and followed the parents and called the tag into the police!

Those of you with kids need to pay attention to them at all times when you're out. The freaks of the world are getting bolder.

Wow, crazy and horrifying!

Yep, I lived in NoVA when I was in HS. Folks often either went to OC, MD or VB, VA.

Predators are everywhere.
Spent all my childhood summers in OC MD.
Shame what it has become.
Heading there this July for a week.

It should have been perfectly fine for the dad to put a cap into the three. If that seems harsh, then a cap in the leg should be OK. (Yes, obviously, I'm mostly joking. In real life the dad shouldn't have killed them, and intentionally wounding them is worse in in real life. But I wouldn't have had an issue with the three being hit by a bus while fleeing the scene. We shouldn't have to worry about people like this with what sounded like a fairly well thought out plan like this.)

I saw my first 51% sign recently. Here it is illegal (felony) to carry, even with license, in an establishment that derives more than 51% of revenue from liquor / beer sales. I usually don't go to actual bars so it was a first.

I think I've only seen 1 51% sign myself, and it was in a bar. I've looked at places like BW3 and that sort of thing, and never seen them. I am also rarely in a bar, but probably wouldn't even try to carry into one.

IIRC it was red, so it stood out.
