Guy Lafleur gets honored for 20 minutes

The Habs are at home against the Bruins. There was a 10 minute tribute AND 10 minutes standing ovation. His record and larger than life personality deserved every second.

Agreed

Nice sorry I missed it. I attended the retirement game for Eddie Giacomin and his ovation seemed to go on forever.

What is it with all the great retired players dying??? Oh wait, we're all getting older.
The game was an interesting one. First no love between the Habs and the Bruins.
Next the ref called a penalty shot on a Hab (which shouldn't have been a penalty) and the Bruin skated up to the puck and completely missed it! He had to turn around, go back and grab it and the went straight down the ice and shot and scored. No fancy moves just a shot that scored. They had to review the play to make sure the Bruin didn't touch the puck when he flew past it.

Flat: you have to see it. I think the Hab goalie was stunned and lost focus.

This is good

My guys had a goal nullied by an offside that was within a pube of being onside. Great get by the Red Wings guys upstairs but dang it was THAT close.

Rough week for the NHL alumni. I'm just a bit too young to fully appreciate Lafleur's impact, but Mike Bossy also died and he was my guy against those pesky Oilers when I first started becoming a regular watcher of the league.

If you haven't read this, even if you don't love hockey, you should:

Mike Bossy was a beast, and even tho I'm from Chicago, he was my favorite player when I was young.

I'm pretty sure I remember Lafleur would smoke on the bench back in the day.
