Buying American made
Given current geopolitics, I've been trying to buy more stuff made here. Two recommendations:
Darn Tough Socks and Dearborn Denim Socks are pricey but incredibly well made and comfortable and have a lifetime guarantee. Jeans fit great with really nice quality denim. Both are worth checking out. Darn Tough Socks Dearborn Denim

Naked and Famous jeans are Canadian made with Japanese denim. Not 'merican and kinda pricey but very well built and a promise of 0% Chinese cotton. They're also typically woven on old looms that the USA sent over after WW2 so there's lots of interesting character to the fabric.
I suspect Allen Edmonds will continue to slowly shift away from making shoes in Wisconsin - I've seen more and more of their product not stating "Made in the USA". Not the best shoes on earth but still pretty solid for their price point, especially if on sale. Domke camera bags and Filson duffles are USA. I have some of each in canvas/twill and they're indestructible beasts. And who can forget the Stormy Kromer hats from da youpee of MI? (buy right, cry once)

Some Allen Edmonds are still made in USA of imported materials though. I have maybe three pairs. Alden still makes shoes here. I don't have Aldens. Apart from Darn Tough socks, I have some American Giant hoodies, shirts and pants, and some Taylor Stitch shirts and jeans when they still made them here. I have a Gustin jacket and a pair of pants, a few hoodies and pants from Flint & Tinder as well. I have Bluer Denim too. Some have stopped, they just can't make the economics work.
Yes, I went on a "buy made in USA" spree. I might have a Levi's 501 pair still made in the US somewhere in the closet. |

You can still buy Sperry Top Siders made in Maine- their normal ones are from Indonesia, I think, but on their website you can get the US ones- around $300 I think, but very well made. Now I just need a yacht...
Darn Tough are fantastic and live up to their name.

If I ever buy a suit again - Hickey Freeman. If I ever have to replace a pair of my Edmonds it'll be either cordovan Aldens or something equally not-cheap from Britain. But in today's WFH world my slippers and robe are wearing out far faster than suits and leather shoes.
Ooh - Chris Reeve knives. Nice people, too. I had a screw fall out (my fault, I knew it was loose and ignored it) and when I called to buy a replacement they sent me two for free. Good cutting tools as well - they lock up like a vault. While not made at the old plant in Rockford MI anymore I think some of the dressier Wolverine boots are USA and made of leather that's still tanned near Chicago (Horween). My 1000 Mile boots from maybe 2007-2009 were some of the last MI-built. They're probably on their fourth soles by now and they're molded to my feet as if they were custom.

All our cabinets are made here in LA with 100% domestic materials (unless its an exotic imported lumber) with all German or Italian hardware. For some folks, custom made cabinets are a must, but the price difference is about 40% more. That's a huge number normal folks aren't willing to swallow when that number is large. 30k is now 41k. There aren't too many people doing this type of work due to the percentage difference or the quality requirement. Thanks goodness for that.
I still buy US, Japanese made saw blades. To be honest, does it really matter where a product is made as long is its a "good"? |

I practically live in Ibex merino base layer tops for about 8 months of the year, and they're made in new England.
I also spend a lot of time on bikes and want to look normal. Swrve, in LA, makes great clothing (well-designed, well-made, durable, fits me well, looks good) and some (though not all) of their products are MUSA (the ones that are are indicated as such.) And last year I had a semi-custom credenza made by this guy, local to me in Chicago: https://www.chicagofirefurniture.com/ He does great work.

Yeti bikes used to be out of Durango CO - they've since moved HQ to Golden CO. My 2008 aluminum XC bike was marked "made in CO". My 2013 carbon isn't quite marked as such. I suspect the (very nice) CF is Taiwanese but they're still a local company putting out good stuff. And no chineesium...

I stopped watching "Shark Tank" to support buying American. But I don't think that is the same thing.
I don't think I ever saw a product come across their stage that was made in America. In fact when asked about their productions costs, most contestants would say "$12345 landed".

For the cyclists out there, Ibis has a modern, full suspension carbon fiber mountain bike that they are building in the USA. As a manufacturing engineer who’s been making MUSA bicycle components for 30 years, I applaud their effort:
