Flip-flops have come a long way.
 

I’m leaving for OK tomorrow. Figured some quick on/off footwear would be a welcome luxury at camp - to let feet wet from wading all day dry.

I hit the store thinking I was gonna buy $3 flips at OLD NAVY or something. I pulled into a good camp store first. I bought Reefs ($60) after agonizing over another pair with a Hawaiian-ish name. They were $80!

Big takeaway is comfort. I bet I could run with them. My old pair was maybe 3 decades ago, and running wasn’t in the cards. Any misstep would pull the toe strap thru the sole immediately. Hehe. They have a bottle opener on the bottom. Weird. Fun but weird.

My feet are so white!flip flops. Who knew?

They ain't flip-flops unless they get a blowout when you run with em.

The "Mick Fanning" Reef has a bottle opener on the bottom. I owned a few pair about 10 years or so ago.

I've had quite a few made by Croc that were pretty good. Over the years I've probably owned and wore over 50 pair.

Seemed like whenever I found a good model I liked it was discontinued.

My last 2 pair came from Amazon and are pretty decent.

Was Olukai the Hawaiian-ish name?

I’m in my sixth year with mine and I love them. Extremely comfortable.

I still remember when Flip-Flops were called Thongs.

I love my Sperry's, and they stand behind them they are very comfortable, decent arch, and if they come apart or for some reason the strap breaks, send them pictures to they replace them :cool:

I like Teva. Simple, but man, that strap was a game changer. Was out whitewater rafting some 20 years ago and saw them on the rack in the store. Just had to have them. Like you, I bought those damn plastic or foam rather thongs. After one camping trip, they would rip and I normally leave then in the trash. I found the anatomical type flip flops fit my flat foot much better. Oh reinforced leather (fake or real, don't care) are so much more durable. I normally wear them at home, in and around the house. One pair will last me 3-4 years.

I got some Olukai flip flops a bunch of years ago. Very sturdy, attractive, all leather. I got them on clearance for half price or something. I never did wear them much. I'm not really a big flip flop kind of guy.

Brazillian flip flops, and they are supposed to be fantastic. They are supposed to be awesome. I was in Brazil back in 2012, I think. I couldn't find any that fit, and my feet aren't huge.

Yep, my last two pair have been Crocs, and it's all your fault, from one of your old threads where you came on announcing great flip flops on sale. When those died last fall, I replaced them with a slightly different model that's more comfortable.

I live in flip flops. Shoes or boots only when I have to. I've got Olukai ohanas, Reefs with the bottle opener (that I've never used and never will, gross), strap in Tevas Terra Fi (great for hiking) and Teva flip flops. They're all good but the Teva flip flops are my dailys. I like the quality and high arch. We don't wear shoes in the house and they kick off easy. Buying cheap footwear is too expensive! Besides, my feet and back do much better with the good stuff

I like those too. More of a sandal than a flip flop. Much better than a flip flop if you don't like/want to wear shoes. They aren't quite as good if you want something super quick to slip on, maybe without using your hands. That's probably the only task where a flip flop beats them out. But I don't actually have any these days.

I have a few pairs of the leather Reefs, they are my dress flops, a pair of the Olukias and even some Grateful Dead themed Sanuks.

I tend to be hard on them and go through them pretty often, during the winter I live in Van’s but come warm weather around the house I’m always in them. Unless I am camping, on the motorcycles, etc then I wear appropriate footwear.

Like the picture above I get tan lines as well.

Boought a pair of Crocs for my mother and she loves it. Now, I go and try them and it rubbed a big old blister where the strap meets the sole. Try another pair thinking it was defective. Nope, same thing after walking on them for 10-15 min. Felt great with just the right amount of arch support which I need for my dumb flat feet

If you're talking about the Classic Crocs......I never ever deploy the strap.

Never a problem with them sliding off - unless I want them to! ;)

I bought a pair of Lightning Bolt flip-flops back in 79, visiting a friend in San Diego. Still have them but don’t wear them as much. Bought a pair of Tevas, but I didn’t like the ankle strap, so I cut those off. They are very similar to the Lightning Bolts.

I’ve been wearing Topsiders as well. I think my last pair is just about worn out. I have a new pair I need to start wearing.

Oh no, no traditional crocs for me. My youngest has been wearing them since he was about 3 and he's always have a pair, even today. My wife now started to wear them. My sister and her people, from doc to nurses, at the hospital all swears by them. I don't see the attraction? Any foot health benefit? I put on my kids and its feels like any other shoe to me.
