Let's figure this out. Buy a donor 959 for ?$$$
Then rebuild everything for $$
Then repaint for $???
Then add a new leather interior for $??

What does the group think the total might be?

herr_oberst 05-03-2022 12:34 PM

A lot.

More than I'll ever have.

(The EB110 looks good in a dark color. I think I've only ever seen them in French Blue)

Wow! I never paid that much attention to what all a 959 has. I never realized or at least didn't remember that front suspension before. It's taken this long before they finally put a double A-arm on another Porsche with the new GT3!

I can't imagine how many millions of dollars these reimagined cars are going for.

The video is almost two years old so whatever Bruce C was thinking when the vid was made, it's much different now.

I have to think low two millions today? That's a no research wild ass guess.

The Canepa 959s are almost as quick as the 918 Spyder. Think on that for a minute.

That's probably about right. These cars are completely torn down to a bare tub and rebuilt from the ground up. There are usually several 959s being worked on in Canepa's shop at any one time. Among the many other mods, they can nearly double the engine's original HP.

Been there a few times. I think Mr. Canepa loves cars, racing and Porsches.

Talent is likely gonna get harder and harder to find given competition in silly con valley.

Can he pay a tech as much as Joby Aviation?

Hopefully they will have some super special open haus events IF PAG/PCNA hold the next RR at Laguna in '23.

I know someone that works there. He works on the super special cars.

Thanks for posting!

I should really make the trek over there, it's just up the hill...

The pics in my other post were taken at the late, great C&C/open houses that were held there. Visitors had free access to the entire facility...just roam around wherever you pleased. Word spread, and after a few years the crowds were barely manageable. People were showing up at 4:30am to get in line for the C&C.

I attended a few of the Cars and Coffee events.

No more of those.

Folks can still visit the museum and showroom there-- I did so relatively recently.

My contact there works on super special cars.

Very rare cars.

They have a great facility and they seem to love cars, Porsches and racing.

Here is a link to some photos from there taken by my late friend Carl:

He had quite an eye.

My photo favorite in this bunch is the 917/30 #03 tube shot...

I used to visit #004 up close from time to time when it was in Mr. Morse's collection in nearby Campbell, CA.

I think I first heard of Mark Donahue when he was running at Indy-- I used to watch those events on TV. May have even seen him run #03 on TV back in the day.

Got to meet one of his son's in a biz meeting in the last year or so. Very nice man.

Got to see #001 at PAG museum in 1996.

PAG made some special cars!
