They are in the same category as a reproduction Cobra, but for they don't go around curves or stop very well. But until you've riden in one that has some serious horsepower, there's nothing like it. Just like a motorcycle, not something you can pack luggage in, keep warm or cool, exposed to the weather, seats just 2....

Here's one that's kinda quick...0-80 in 3+ seconds? Built by a retired NASCAR engine builder..600 horsepower, 1700 pounds.

^^^^^that T-bucket has a Big-block Chevy with 2X4's on a mid-rise tunnel ram, pretty sure it would come close to detaching your retinas on a hard launch....

It would be fun to put one together if you had the parts laying around. My freind put one together but never really got on with it. Being so exposed it was too fast and short. Plus his rode hoorible he had too stiff springs in the back. he traded it for a rusty rat rod 4 door sedan with a roof. He made that into a 2 door and liked it much better.

In the late 70's there was one running around here with a hot SBC, with a 4-speed. It changed owners a couple of times, I got a chance to ride in it. It was the quickest accelerating vehicle I had ever been in/ on but for a Kawasaki 750 2-stroke triple.
In the early 80's a friend bought the kit and built it from scratch like a giant model car. Put in stout 427 BBC / T400 that was scary fast.
