Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Very good overall, story was interesting, characters (and there were a lot), old and new were great, moved along very quickly, lot of edge of seat. Marvel went all out to make this a movie for their most dedicated fan base. There was a lot of cheering when certain obscure characters came on screen as well as nuggets of conversation that I think only Marvel nerds would pick up on. And there were a lot of them in the theater. Speaking of which, it was also a very diverse audience, a veritable melting pot.

Also, know how high your truck is when going onto Storrow Drive. There are a lot of signs.

Glad to hear it. I liked the first one a lot, and have seen most of the MCU movies and some of the series. I'll see it eventually.

In your opinion, would this movie be enjoyable even if you haven’t seen all of the post-Endgame Marvel movies?

We have seen the shows released on Disney+ but haven’t seen any theatrical releases recently (specifically the latest Spider-Man).

I've seen most of the theatrical stuff, but none of the Disney stuff. I haven't seen this one yet, but IMO most of them would still be good stand-alone. It would probably be nice to have seen movies in the same series before watching later movies. For instance, watch the Avengers movies in order, or X-men, etc....

From that point of view, I'd rent/buy the first Doctor Strange before I saw the second if I hadn't seen the first yet. The first Doctor Strange gives his origin story and was pretty stand alone from what I remember. They may have woven this one into the fabric more.

But Shaun should be able to provide a better idea.

Steve has given some good advice, definitely see the first one to give you a foundation.

If you like sci-fi/fantasy, you don't have to be a Marvel fan to enjoy the movie. I think it stands on its own in terms of the story. Definitely a fun watch whether you are an MCU fan or not.

Hah. I was on Storrow one really, really hot summer day. There was construction, totally backed up, Mass-holes being Mass-holes to each other. These two people near me get into a profanity laced shouting match because one would not let the other in. A state cop in his car nearby leaned out the window, and in a pure MA accent shouted, "Hey! Hey! Calm down the both of ya's!" #bostonmoments.
