My friend's parents did that. They talked to a cruise line, and just moved in. The were on board for most of the year. Way cheaper than a old folks home, with great food and new people to meet every week.

I would want a room with a balcony or I'd go nuts.

There is a new cruise line coming out specifically for full time live aboard. You basically buy your "apartment/condo"

There has been the "Globe", a live aboard ship going for quite some time. Meant to be good.
